The trip was absolutely fantastic - beautiful country! What really made this trip memorable was our Tour Guide and Bus Driver. Neil had excellent knowledge, great driver for those roads and truly wanted to make sure everyone had the best experience possible. Neil is the best!

Skye and Jacobite Train Tour
Excellent experience! Our tour guide Rose was a certified national story teller and had a vast knowledge of history. She was the best part of the trip and made the whole experience come alive!

This was a wonderful trip that included a variety of great sights and experiences! Our guide, Stefan, was so kind and considerate! He did everything possible to keep us happy. I especially enjoyed him sharing some lovely, authentic Scottish music on the last leg of our journey. He was knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend this tour. We loved every minute!

Better experience than I could have hoped for. It was so much fun, so efficient, we did so much in so little time. Stefan was an incredible guide, funny, sweet, attentive, couldn’t have imagined a better tour. Traveling solo, I was a bit nervous but it was pretty much perfect. The train, the fairy pools, the views, Skye. We were amazingly lucky with the weather so that probably counts but I feel blessed to have been able to do this in these conditions !

The only thing that was sometimes putting a dim on things were some of the other guests. MAGA Americans expecting everything to go the American way without doing proper research and complaining the whole time. But that’s no fault of the company, it’s just the game of traveling with 15 people.

We joined the four day tour, and it is quite a disappointing one.

1. Tour schedule problems
Most of the sightseeing spots only stopped for 10 min to 30min. Only very few spots stopped for an hour. More time was spent in the coach, and it was like a window touring. For example, Storr of the old man in Isle of Skye, only allowed half an hour for hiking, and the hiking trail could not even see the Storr. The driver didn't stop at the right location for taking a photo, only stop at a very far place, we almost couldn't see the storr. I used the telescope mode of my cell phone to get the following photo of the Storr.

2. Management Issues
We requested twin room for accommodation but it turn out to be a double room, and the tour already included accommodation fee but the first hotel requested us to paid and said they didn't receive money from the tour company, finally everything were sorted out but we were shocked and worried all the time during the tour.

3. Unfortunately, the Jacobite Steam train was suddenly canceled for repairment and we were left nothing to do in Mallaig for two hrs, and the Whiskey distilling tourist centre for one hr, which was boring.

4. Safety Issue
The seat belt of two seats in the coach couldn't be buckled, it was dangerous for the two tour members ;and the air-condition in the coach was out of order during the whole trip. We were very hot, and the air was stuffy, windows were all closed .

We were disappointed with this tour.

I loved Scotland and I did have a wonderful time there, although my experience with the tour guide at Highland Experience Tours left a lot to be desired. I will not book with them again. The first time he spoke to the group he told us this was a timed tour and if we showed back up late, he would leave us. This was repeated throughout the trip and although he never actually left anyone, he seemed to mean it and it wasn't funny. Although he put himself out to be charming some of the time, he was rude on several occasions. Further, although I understood every other person I met in Scotland with no difficulty whatsoever, I could not understand about half of what he said even though we both are native English speakers and shouldn't have a problem despite our different accents. Most of the people on the tour did not speak English as a first language and I wonder if they caught even as much as I did. He could be rude when responding to questions - not always, but enough that most people did not ask questions at all. The sights were beautiful and the places we did get to see were lovely. But on at least two occasions he took us to places that weren't even open, backtracked over the same ground several times, didn't give us enough time to see some places, and left us hanging out a couple of hours in places where there was little to nothing to see. The tour company put us in accommodations that were nice, but sometimes were nowhere near eating establishments or there were no other places to go once you were dropped off there. It really could had been planned better, although I doubt this was the guide's fault. Despite all this, Scotland was an amazing experience. I just won't book with this tour company again and I absolutely will ask more questions about the itinerary, the tour guide, and the accommodations before I book with anyone.
