Visiting the Rocinha favela, one of Rio's hundreds of "favelas" (the Brazilian term for a slum or shantytown) and the largest in the country, is a local experience that gives you the chance to see Brazil from another point of view. With a resident guide, take a non-intrusive walking tour to learn about daily life in the favela and gain insight into the challenges these communities face.
When your tour is finished our driver will be heading back to Copacabana neighborhood crossing the beaches of Leblon and Ipanema, therefore you must inform our tour guide where you are staying so we can make sure you are dropped off as close as possible to your hotel.
Duration of our tour including pickup and drop off is around 3 hours.

Fantastic insight into the favela, its history and the people who live there. This is a must do for anyone visiting Rio. Our guides both spoke good English and couldn’t have given us a better experience or a more enjoyable 3hrs - meeting local street artists and touring the sometimes claustrophobic side lanes of Rocinha. We felt completely comfortable and very safe - money and time very well spent.

He was very flexibile and showed me all I was interested in. I can not recommend enough! If you travel to Rio, you have to take this tour!☺️

It was awesome expérience in Rocinha, We had a really insterting guide name Junior. He is Kind, smart and pedagogue. He knows a lot of things about the favela (history, fun fact, life). Really Nice visit. Beautiful place, Nice people. Me and my friends, we recommend Junior for this type of expedition.

Pretty nice tour. Guide spoke very well. Started off a bit slow in some gym. Not always best info. … Some stops were to tour’s friends. Info not always clear or accurate. But towards end, tour meanders thru what feels like almost a cave system…

Daniel is a local guide from Rocinha and did an outstanding job with the tour! He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese and does a great job of discussing the history, culture, and society of Rocinha favela. I felt very safe and secure from start to finish and everyone we encountered on the tour was very friendly and welcoming. One of my favorite activities I did while in Rio!

It was a very interesting and insightful tour, you need to see the other side to Brazil as Carlos says Brazil is two countries. I felt safe and learnt a lot.

This tour was very eye-opening and honest. Daniel was the greatest guide ever. It was worth the effort and a little bit of hiking, but nothing too strenuous. Overall, it was a nicely planned tour with places one would never see without the guide. I recommend this tour to people who like to walk and explore new places.
