So much fun! Great setting in a professional kitchen with incredible views. Chef Scott and Charlie were excellent hosts, providing seemingly bottomless smoothies for the three hour session. Time flew under the chefs, patient instruction, giving direction and corrections with humor and positive feedback. The rescue dogs who kept us company were a plus. This was one of the best events during my trip to Costa Rica.

We were very lucky to get a private class here with Scott. Such a good afternoon - very relaxed yet productive! A fantastic three course lunch that we ate as we went along. Rain so no volcano view but saw plenty of toucans flying around 😊 and enjoyed our mojitos too, courtesy of Charlie. Highly recommend for something a bit different to the trails and waterfalls! If you like dogs it’s even better 😂

We had an amazing experience at Costa Rica Cooking with Chef Scott and his team. Highly recommend! This was much more than simply a cooking class - we also learned about history, wildlife, dog rescuing, and more. Scott is extremely enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and entertaining - he made the class very enjoyable and fun. The food was delicious, we can't wait to try these recipes at home!!

I am a private chef traveling solo, and so elected the “shared” class instead of the “private” one, the latter of which indicates a two person minimum. I was later advised via email that the “shared” class also had a two person minimum, and so I would “need to pay for 2 people or bring a friend”. I expressed my surprise and asked about a refund if I was unable to find a second person, and never received a response. Instead, the booking remained “pending” and I was too afraid to cancel, as I was not guaranteed a refund to cancel. Instead, I wasted my day waiting for the class, only to be informed at the time of class that it was not happening because I hadn’t confirmed. I am incredibly upset at the unprofessionalism, the poor communication, false advertising, and ultimately the lost day I could have spent at a different cooking course. I still have not received an apology or clarification for why the “shared” class was not actually an option.

We’re so glad we decided to do Chef Scott’s cooking class! You can tell he genuinely loves what he does. We had a private class for the four of us which was awesome. From the third floor kitchen you can watch all the toucans in the trees and get the most amazing view of the volcano. We started by learning how to make mojitos which were delicious then everyone got involved in the cooking of the most amazing meal! We learned some new techniques to boot. Chef Scott gives great instruction and his food is AMAZING. This was the best meal we had and was truly a highlight of our time in La Fortuna. Some of the proceeds from his classes go to help fund his dog rescue so you’re also helping a great cause. If you’re staying at TiFakara Birding Oasis hotel (which I highly recommend) you’re in luck because he’s right next door. We had such a great time and would do it again. It’s worth every penny. Thank you Chef Scott, we had so much fun with you!

Very fun cooking class! My husband and I had an excellent time making drinks and cooking together with locally sourced ingredients. It was incredibly rewarding to sit and eat each dish. I love to cook at home and was able to learn so much from the chef, who was very personable and friendly. The chef also owns a dog rescue so that was a plus! The view from the kitchen was very scenic. You're in for a treat!

On the first full day of my 10-day solo journey, I did a private cooking class with Chef Scott. Out of all my experiences during my trip, this one rates as one of the greatest highlights! The entire experience was amazing- you can’t beat the location and the food was phenomenal! Scott cooks with an absolute pure love for cooking, food and teaching. He explained everything thoroughly, taught great skills with how to use a knife and chop food properly, and kept it light and fun the entire time! I could not recommend this experience enough and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to cook and learn alongside Chef Scott. He is the real deal with many years of experience and I love that I was able to cross paths with him on my Costa Rican adventure! Thank you for the most wonderful time Scott, hope to see you again one day!

Chef that kept our group of 11 (5 kids included, ages 8-12) engaged, excited, and laughing. The ambiance is amazing, the food prep process, culinary teaching, and flavors of what we made were just outstanding! I can not put in words just how amazing the overall experience was, and would make this our top non “thrill seeking” adventure!!

I booked Scott’s 3 Course Tropical Gourmet Cooking Class with my wife and 4 friends. We would all highly recommend it! We all had a very fun and educational afternoon. Scott is knowledgeable, entertaining and very connected to the community. The menu is impressive and the food was great! The professional teaching kitchen and attentive kitchen staff made it an ideal cooking set up. We had a lot of laughs, and a great afternoon. Everyone will learn something new and be prepared to be more ambitious cooking at home. It is worth the time and money.
