We had the distinct honor to take a tour with Pierre Louis of the Jewish community — past and present — in Paris. He was one of the best tour guides we have ever experienced (and we’ve taken numerous small group and private tours over the years.) He was knowledgeable, articulate, responsive to questions. He brought the history to life. We highly recommend him and this tour.

The guide gave us long speeches about the history of the Jews of Paris/ France but didn't really seem to know much about the area we were walking through. He wasn't really able to point out much about the area we were in so it was really more of a history lesson than a walking tour. If you know your modern history of the Jews then this isn't really the trip for you.

The tour guide provided a lot of opinion, but not enough facts. While we walked all over the Jewish neighborhood of Marais, we were not given much information about how people lived, communal institutions, life, work, etc - neither then, nor now. The initial stops by the City Hall and the river were of little use to the topic. So, just mediocre. Try someone else.

We thought that our tour guide Benjamin was so lovely and super smart.
He was terrific and did his job well.
I didn’t feel like it was a “jewish walking tour” of the marais.
There was a lot more cultural things, that could have been intertwined into the tour.
Synagogues for example
