We were so lucky! We went on a trip on April 12, 3 days before Makai and other whale watching trips would close for the season. We saw several mothers and babies. Our boat captain did well, and our guide was engaging and informed. We've gone on the usual big boats before, but there were only 15 on our small 2-hour tour boat, so we were close to the water and enjoyed the ride as well as the whales. We are in our 80's, but the crew made it easy for us to get into and out of the boat, too.
