Abdel Ali was an AMAZING driver. Had an amazing experience with him as our driver throughout our journey.

Please note that the Zagora desert is not plentiful sand dune type of desert. Other wise it was a nice trip. amazing to see different parts of morocco and good was very good!

Getting back! It's a long way to ride a camel over a wasteland. Van was fine. Lunch stops not as good as I'd hoped.

Our trip into the mountains and desert was absolutely wonderful. We had a very knowledgeable driver, Abdelaali, who was very helpful in explaining a lot of different cultural concepts such as the license plates, animals, and a multitude of sights along the way. We stopped in a very touristic town, which was part of the tour, but the restaurant they had us eat at was very overpriced and had bad service. This was only a part of the tour, so I suggest that you go to a restaurant on your own. The overnight was wonderful and the camel ride was very cool. We listened to music and danced with locals as well as people from all over the world. I would recommend that if you are going to Marrakesh, you should definitely do this tour.

This was an amazing experience!
The drive, although long, took us through the beatiful Atlas mountains and Morrocan countryside. We also had the chance to do some shopping along the way in often better prices than Marrakech.
The Zagora desert was mesmerising and we loved every bit of it, the camel ride, stargazing, sunset & sunrise and the berber music by the fire!
The desert is composed of a variety of different landscapes, starting with rocky terrain and palm trees and leading to small sand dunes. Our camp was the last one from the ones we could see so we could roam the desert during sunrise and enjoy its vastness.

Our driver and guide, Said, was excellent, full of interesting facts about the Berber culture and Morocco in general. He was very accommodating, kind and always happy and very importantly a skillful driver (which believe me is very important for a long roadtrip).

The highlight of our stay in Marrakech. I highly recommend it!

Let me acknowledge it is a long drive. We left at 7am and arrived a the jumping off point for the camel ride at 6pm. However there are multiple stops in-route for scenic overlooks and small shops for water/drinks and bathroom breaks. Included in this time is a lunch break and the tour of Ait Ben Haddou.

Ait Ben Haddou is a fascinating place with a long and interesting history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had a great personality.

The camel rides (to and from the camp) and the camp were great! Our camel guide (Mohamed) was great. Very friendly, patient and extremely genuine. The camp host/manager made us feel very welcome. The camp was comfortable and clean. We splurged for the upgrade and it was worth it. Also met some very interesting fellow travelers at the camp. Moonrise and sunrise the following morning were beautiful. Unfortunately the moon washed out the stars.

The best part of the trip was the dinner at camp - very high quality tagines and a nice variety of them.

The rest of the trip was a shopping tour where we were forced to buy overpriced water and low quality meals and then shuttled to buy things no one wanted. Then the trip finished at a camp that was not in the sand dunes but on the side of a hill very similar to what is near Marrakech. We could have avoided a 7 hour drive each way. The secluded private camp was none of those and this was 100% fraud. Please go elsewhere.

The trip to Zagora was amazing. We leave from Marrakech, picked up by our driver, Abdelaali. He drove us thru the lower Atlas Mountains. Awesome stops along the way. Even though it was a 8h journey, the stops in the scenic cliffs, Berber villages were amazing. The guides at the camp site were also fantastic. The camel ride was an excellent experience. You are able to stay at this beautiful place under the stars. We did the small trek up the dunes. And the Berber people made us a great dinner and show afterwards. The whole experience was some thing I’d highly recommend.
The only cons I can think of, are the tents were very hot, despite being in the desert at night. we all just slept outside under the stars.

Our driver Abdelaali was excellent and friendly. It was long trip but the breaks, meals, and sights were all well timed to make the trip more comfortable. The staff at the campsite made wonderful food and the entertaining was great. Everyone involved did a fantastic job in providing us a comfortable and enjoyable experience. We also lucked out with really nice weather for stargazing. The camel ride was a real treat as well

Great first experience to discover the Sahara. The staff was very friendly and the stops on the way were interesting, and the landscapes at the camp well worth the journey.

And now for the negative sides... As often in Morocco, there are some hidden costs. Everything is slightly more expensive, for example the tour guide in Ait Ben Addhou is 30 MAD, not 20, the restaurant is 120 and not 100. And there's no choice of where you can go, and the price is double of what you would pay in Marrakech for a much lower quality. And the same applies to the return trip.

Another negative aspect is the complete absence of planning for the following day, everyone in the camp was constantly wondering what was happening and when, from the dinner time to what time to wake up in the morning to watch the sun rise and breakfast / leaving time.

So overall a positive experience, even though a bit more organisation and clarity would make this a much more recommended experience.
