The hike is very challenging and as an avid hiker, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. It should be advertised as challenging though as someone unfit could experience excessive stress on their cardiovascular system.
Steep incline, scrambling over boulders on all fours as you get closer to peek.

Milton was wonderful! It was just him and me, which can sometimes be a little awkward but not with Milton. We had a great time chatting and laughed a lot! He even helped me come up with my mantra for the new year :) The hike was challenging enough but not at all too difficult. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed this hike with my guide, Milton. The shady path through the jungle was lovely, and there were excellent views in both directions. The path is steep in parts, and requires some rock scrambling at the top, but I didn't really have any difficult (68 year old woman.) My guide helped me identify and navigate some of the trickier stretches. I highly recommend this activity.

I really enjoyed my hike to the top of Monkey Mountain with my guide Milton. The trail through the jungle was shaded and pretty, and the views to the coast and over the mountains were lovely. Parts of the climb were steep, and involved some scrambling at the topic, but I (age 68) managed fine, in part because my guide was so helpful about the best handholds, routes, etc. I highly recommend this experience.

My guide Octavio was great! He showed me how to find and open coconuts, identified various kinds of birds, and imparted his love of the outdoors. The hike itself has some pretty steep parts, and some challenging sections near the top where you are literally climbing over boulders with your hands and legs. It was fun! We took two breaks to have granola bars and went though a liter of water each (which Octavio carried). We left around 1 and got back around 5. About 30 minutes driving each way, so the climb took about 3 hours. A very full afternoon. I treated myself to a massage the next morning, which I *sorely* needed! :) Thank you WildMex for not canceling the hike even though I was the only one who signed up for it.

We went with Javier, who we cannot speak more highly of. A local dog joined our team at the bottom and made it all the way to the top. We went in October and it was 90+ with 80% humidity, which, being from Montana, was a new thing. I could not have sweated more. I had to wring my shirt and shorts out.Shirt... sure... but shorts? The hike itself is not too tough. Maybe 1500 vert with a trail that goes between single, double and road, with a little steeper finish. Flashes of coastline greet you at multiple places on the walk up. The finish has a 360 panorama that was pretty spectacular. We could see both Sayulita, the Mariettas, and La Lancha where we surfed the next day. Highly recommend the walk. Bring tons of water, or go during the dry season when the heat index isn't 115.
