Our guide Angela was the best. She was very detailed in her explanations, told us many Scottish stories, and played traditional and popular songs when we had long periods on the bus. She was very timely and clearly had thought out every aspect of this tour.

This tour started with a visit to Rosslyn Chapel, made famous by The Da Vinci Code novel and movie. It’s a nice little chapel, but nothing spectacular. You’ll appreciate it more if you’re a Da Vinci Code fan. Next, we stopped for lunch in the charming Scottish border town of Melrose with just enough time to visit the ruins of Melrose Abbey and the small but pretty Harmony Garden. Afterward, we headed across the English border to visit Hadrian’s Wall. We spent about an hour and forty minutes there walking along the wall. It’s a steep but gradual ascent, manageable for most people. There are some nice views of the pastoral countryside from the wall. The height of the wall isn’t impressive. It served more as a discouragement to raiders rather than as a military barrier, sort of a stone equivalent to barbed wire. On the way back we stopped for a photo op of the Jedburgh Abbey ruins.

Our tour guide Ewan came across as a little business-like at first but gradually warmed up as the day went along. He provided us with a lot of helpful information on what we saw and a few good stories, though the one about his son serving as a chef for the Royal Family went on a little too long. Good tour overall, but there are better day trips from Edinburgh, like Stirling Castle.

Very interesting and informative; guide (Angela) was superb. It must be made clear, however, that there is a demanding hike to reach the wall.

This was such a wonderful day! I loved the small group setting. I didn't feel rushed at any of the stops. Angela was an amazing driver and guide. She had so much historical knowledge to share along the way and a curated playlist. Rosslyn Chapel is a must see!!! And Hadrian's Wall was something that I have always wanted to see. Thank you Angela and Heart of Scotland tours for the memories you helped me make on this trip.

Angela is the best tour guide! She is warm, friendly, and definitely very informative! Still can’t forget the Borders cookies she gave us when we were at the border of England and Scotland!

Rosslyn Chapel is an exquisite work of art! Hadrian’s wall is a sight to see, too!

Totally recommend this tour, and most especially if Angela is the tour guide!

We had a great time with Angela on the tour of Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrian's wall. She was a fantastic tour guide - knowledgeable, funny and interesting stories, music that went with her stories, helpful and capable. The only thing she could not fix was the weather! A bit cold, rainy and windy. But we had a great time nonetheless! Beautiful country, amazing sites. I would absolutely recommend this tour and Angela!
