Fabulous learning, a must for all locals and visitors! The guide was warm, friendly and funny. All participants were very engaged and loved to learn from an elder

Super interesting! You can get a nice look at the gardens and learn while you’re at it! The guide was very patient and answered every question that came up! I really recommend the Aboriginal Heritage Walk to any first time visitor!

This was a wonderful walk. Janelle is such a knowledgeable guide. She explained aspects of the gardens which were very new for me, despite visiting the gardens often. I especially like her information on Tanderrums and use of indigenous plants. We even got to try some! I have been on several Aboriginal Heritage Walks at the RBGV and each is unique and so wealthy in information.

This tour was such a great experience, it was more than I anticipated. As well as taking a beautiful walk through the gardens in Autumn, the information and stories generously shared by Den, our guide, was honest, genuine and important.
His sense of humour put everyone at ease, not that he needed to do that, but I could tell he is acutely aware of how to navigate groups of different people and personalities. I would say if you are interested in listening and learning rather than asking hundreds of very specific questions about the entire Aboriginal community, you will get something out of this tour!

Can't recommend it highly enough. Why? Hard to say. I just ended up with a sense o, I don't know, belonging? Fitting in? Something. Very affecting. Very uncomplicated. Very good.

Woman was late and somewhat unprofessional. The receptionist was pretty keen to try to push the coffee vendor out the front.

The gardens are beautiful, more versatile than the ones in Sydney, and you definitely get more out of them with a guide!
Ours was nice but somewhat disoriented; we started late and it felt that we could have covered a lot more in 90 mins if the guide had been more efficient and to the point. It's a shame, as we were looking to learn and were left with a feeling that we only touched the surface in a setup that could have given us a lot more.
Judging by other reviews, this is however not the case with all guides, so I'd still recommend giving it a go.

Do yourself a favour and take a guided walk around the gardens with Uncle Den. Educate yourself on some aboriginal history while partaking on an emotional journey which included stories, poems, learning the many uses of native plants and jokes. It was the most real thing we did in Melbourne.
