I was traveling “solo” with my infant baby girl. Our guide and driver Stephen is not only a highly knowledgeable person but also very well traveled. He showed the beautiful lakes and the springs around. Also told a lot about the native flora and fauna as well as Māori tradition and culture. I highly recommend this tour!

We were super lucky to have hit the jackpot with this company. Stephen picked us up from our motel and it was an amazing experience from our first to our last stop. We chose the ‘Explore the Lakes Tour’ and were so impressed with everything we experienced and absolutely wrapt with our choice. If you want a unique, informative, nature-appreciating tour choose this! We feel like we got to see part of the lesser known Rotorua that everyone should know. Take the road less travelled! We had a great time with Stephen. Both tours (Lake & Thermal) were interesting and a lot of fun. As a local tour guide, Stephen is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and the history of the landscape. He shows you spots that you wouldn't have found on your own. Highly recommended! Great find! Knowledgeable guide! From the start, Stephen showed wonderfully customer friendly service. Then with each stop he provided great insight and history of the area. From the natural spring, redwoods and the trail by the rafters, to the volcanic history and geography of the area, he was able to provide us with answers to all our questions. The hot chocolate and cookie break eas appreciated as was the up close view of glow worm beads.

Just returned from traveling in NZ for almost 3 weeks and had booked all three tours with Stephen for the day. if you are interested in learning about the broad diversity of ecosystems in NZ, the evolution of the diverse environments as well as the animal life - do this! Visiting the forest at night to see the glowworms was unforgettable. Stephen able to inform on local indigenous history and lore related to natural sites, knows his way around, packs in alot of info & is just a great guy. An absolute trip highlight!

Our excursion with Stephen from Real Rotorua was great. His love for, and knowledge of, the countryside made for an enjoyable morning exploring the area around Rotorua.
The circuit around the Hamurana springs was inspiring, and the giant redwoods are just awesome. Then the walk to see the Okere falls was a guide to the region's botanical wonders.
It was a pleasant, easy-paced tour of some of the Rotorua's less publicised attractions.

I recently took the Real Rotorua tour in New Zealand and it exceeded all expectations. Our tour guide was not only incredibly entertaining but also highly knowledgeable, showing a genuine passion for New Zealand's flora and fauna. This tour of the many lakes and cold water springs around Rotorua was wonderful. Stephen is a great guide. Many opportunities to get out of the van at different vistas. Some beautiful walks along beaches and through a redwood forest. Caves near gorgeous waterfalls. It's a great way to see many parts of the Rotarua area that don't get the attention they deserve (in my opinion). Highly recommend.

This was a complete surprise for all the best reasons. Our guide, Stephen, was so knowledgable about the area and the native NZ forest and birds. We loved being in such a small group and felt like we were being shown around by a family member - seeing things the locals know about but most tourists miss. I highly recommend Stephen and Real Rotorua Guided Tours.
