The Medina in the day time is hot and really for me just a market but at night it is vibrant, colourful and hectic but true Marrakech.
Haggling for a bargain is a national sport in Morocco they love it and so did I.

Mixed, on the one hand, you have a lot of open shops and a desire to discover the scents and local life...these places are magnificent....but personally the number of motorcycles and other motorized vehicles that pass within a few centimeters of you and the pollution that it gives off has taken away part of the charm of the place.....

Absolutely amazing a little daunting at times you need to be very savi around the streets as motor bikes race everywhere but fully enjoyed it and extremely cheap.

Incivility due to the incessant circulation of 2 wheels dangerous for pedestrians,
- therefore very polluted
- no relaxation for shopping
- price per tourist's head x 3, you have to negotiate for everything! It ends up being tiring.

We decided to hire our own private tour guide to take us shopping at the Medina in Marrakesh. Youseph met us outside the Medina, and spend five hours with us. We got to see shops that other two guides will not take you to, like the craftsman section where we observed things being made. Joseph had a great sense of humor, was fun & patient with us as we shopped our way through the Medina. With over 3000 shops in the Medina, it is a good idea to have your own guide. We highly recommend them.

The Medina if Marrakech is a place where you are consyantly approched by vendors to buy something. They will say absolutely anything to get you into their shops, " cheap as chips", " hey sister", "love your bag, shoes, bracelet, whatever you have on", "cheap as asda, cheap as primark" "almost free"..you have to tell them what you want to pay..NEVER give them what they ask for as it it usually 3 times more than what you should expect to pay. If you are a bargain hunter, you can get good deals..but if not, you will just get bumped! They are extremely friendly and charming but can get nasty when you talk them done..not all, but some vendors can be abit rude. Just laugh and move onto the next. This place is never ending, you always have choices and will ckme across so many new parts of the medina no matter how many times you go. Have fun, as it is alot of fun..and remember, Bargain hunt..thats the joy of Marrakech! 🤩

Got a taxi to medina square and on getting dropped off at the square we immediately got harassed from a local trying to take us into the market we said no no no but still wasn't listening so we walked off in the other direction.
After going into the market on our own no guide it was like a maze very busy with loads of stalls but all the stalls mainly selling the same things .
we bought some magnets some shoes and a leather holdall oh and some spices always barter the price and if you say no and start to walk away you will probably get your goods for a good price .
Downside - Getting hassled ,smelly,so big we actually got lost and took what seemed like forever to get out ,motorbikes zooming through the market while trying to shop. Couldn't find any toilets but was a few cafe bars inside so maybe if we had food could of used them toilets otherwise didn't see any.

The Medina is an amazing cultural experience. From the moment you arrive, there is an overwhelming sense of something different. Whether it is the drums being played with the pipes to charm the snakes, the colourful displays on show, or the sheer range of different stalls to visit this is not to be missed. It is worth going into the shops to haggle over price, and enjoy every minute of it. Something that to many might be quite a challenge. If you are in Marrakech go and visit the Medina, walk around the Souks and be amazed.

Went in 2020 and had a nice time. The souk is a great place to learn how to haggle and the people welcome it. Agree the price of taxis before getting in.

Fascinating experience just wandering through the small streets full of hundreds of small shops selling everything. Extremely busy with people and mopeds. Very friendly & humorous vendors mostly.
Easy to get lost, and one piece of advise if you appear to be lost & are asked if you need directions don’t take the offer of following because at the end you will be asked for money.
Apart from that very enjoyable, you must haggle the price of goods ( they start too high) but it’s all very good natured. Great few days .
