I took the vegan cooking class with Lorena and it was such a good time! She made me feel right at home in her space and was super welcoming and kind. She wakes us through the main plaza and the market in Coyoacan and had us try a few new foods there before going back to the kitchen to cook four amazing dishes: tortilla soup, vegetable tamales, carrot tacos "al pastor," and an avocado ice cream (with some mezcal to wash it all down). Everything was delicious and she was a great teacher with lots of knowledge of Mexican cooking and culture. Would definitely take a class with her again.

This was an absolutely amazing experience. Graciela is not only an incredible cook, but she also is incredibly knowledgeable about the historical/anthropological/sociological/geographical aspects that have turned Mexican cuisine into what it is today. She's also a fun instructor whose love for food and her city shine through. The market tour provided me an excellent opportunity to learn about the history of Mexican food, as well as the everyday practices surrounding it. Meeting vendors in the market and on the street was also a very eye-opening experience, since it created a comprehensive picture of the food production process. It was also a delicious and educational experience, as it also gave me a sense of which street foods I can find while out and about that are vegan. The cooking class itself was a lot of fun, and Graciela was a great mentor. My knife technique isn't exactly the best, and I had never rolled a tamale before; Graciela exhibited kindness and patience throughout all of that. Awesome conversation, delicious (and abundant) food, all in a beautiful space with incredibly attentive staff. I recommend this unconditionally.
