Your exploration begins outside PJs coffeehouse, a local treasure that features beignets.
The tour itself focuses on the historic Garden District, lasts two hours and covers about 1.5 miles.
Your expert guide will provide a quick overview of Louisiana history before delving into the architectural gems of the neighborhood. Historical context acknowledging the indigenous presence, the slave economy, the patrons of the mansions along with the architects are discussed. Local burial traditions are reflected upon OUTSIDE the gates of the historic Lafayette cemetery. Lastly a few pop culture references and celebrity related addresses are included with a special stop reserved for the Buckner Mansion, known to fans of American Horror Story (AHS) as the Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies.
****Due to the City of New Orleans closing of the Lafayette cemetery for renovations , there will be NO access into the cemetery and an overview will be presented OUTSIDE of the gates.

Betsy our guide, was funny and informative. The pace was leisurely and there is a stop halfway through to get a drink or use a restroom. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes!

Betsy was our guide and she did a great job. She has a nice sense of humor and is full of information and answers questions well. The pace is leisurely and there is a stop half way through at a coffee shop if you need the facilities or want to buy a drink. We are glad we went and learned a lot. Thank you Betsy!

I very much enjoyed this tour with Karen. She was able to provide a local's insight into the history and architecture of the Garden District. There was a decent amount of walking, but the pace wasn't rushed, and Karen was great about pausing in front of the spots where she had info to share with the group.

Betsy provided an interesting tour including tales from past and present, architectural primer and cemetery info. all in an entertaining, well-paced manner. We had a group of 6 which was really nice. We all got a little 1-1 time with Betsy as we walked.

The tour was SO good and our guide was the best! I loved seeing something other than the French Quarter and hearing all the history of the Garden District. PJs coffee was lovely and pretty much the only coffee place in LA where I found non-dairy milks. Yay! 10/10, recommend!!!

We recently went on a walking tour with Betsy. We’ve done several other walking tours in New Orleans and hers was the best. Betsy does a great job peppering in 300 years of history with the cultural changes that have taken place more recently. We would strongly recommend
