The Jewish history in Brazil dates back to the time of the voyages of Columbus, Gaspar da Gama, a Jew by birth, accompanied Portuguese admiral Pedro Alvares Cabral when he landed in what is now Brazil in 1500, beginning a more than 500-year presence in the New World.
Enjoy a group tour to see the Jewish influence in Rio de Janeiro and learn about the Jewish presence in the city, besides visiting the main Jewish landmarks.

Our guide was terrific. He grew up in Brazil
He took us around all the Jewish sites and gave us the history of how the Jewish people came to Brazil We went inside the synagogues and he gave us great explanation each. Told us about the close relationships the Jewish people have and the community center they built so there is a place for them to go. It was wonderful

WOW!! We had the most wonderful, meaningful and informative day with Efraim. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the Jewish community in Rio. He gave us a detailed history and walked us thru current Jewish life. We loved visiting the synagogues, the Holocaust Museum, the Jewish community center and the Jewish museum. He shared personal anecdotes of his life in Rio. His partner, Gisela, was a wonderful enhancement to our tour. We left feeling so emotional about our experience and this community. Highly recommend Efraim!!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and as a local of the community we felt as though we were invited into his home.
If interested in this type of tour, don’t miss it if in Rio.

Efron was an amazing guide. His depth of knowledge was extraordinary. He was always informative and always had a joke or anecdote to keep the conversation going. I would say he was one of the best tour guides we experienced in South America.

My wife and I were picked up by Gisella and Efraim, two delightful and friendly lifelong Rio Jews. We were taken to the sites listed in the tour itinerary and were given a good understanding of the past and present history of the Jewish community. A great use of our time.
Unprompted and uncompensated, Efraim offered to and took us for Shabbat Services to the Reform ARI synagogue. He introduced us to the Rabbi and some of his friends. Everyone was outgoing and friendly and we had a great time.
I highly recommend this tour.

Really insightful tour. Our guide really knew his stuff and he managed to get us in to several places despite it being a Jewish holiday. It's a lot of driving!

The guides Gisela and Efraim were excellent and brought the Jewish community to life. There was no way we could have done it on our own.
