My 73-year-old mother and I went on this tour today and was a day we will never forget!! Two women from the US completely out of our element, yet we were never concerned for our safety, The tour guide spoke very good English, and was extremely knowledgeable about the area because grew up there and still lives there. He treated us like family introducing us to his sister and many friends as we passed by. I have no words to describe how grateful we are to be able to go all the way to the top, be welcomed into actual homes, and learn so much along the way. Absolutely amazing experience!!

Erik is one of the most communicative and interesting person I've met. His view of Rocinha is extremely deep and reliable, since he was born and raised in the Rocinha favela and is very engaged in the social issues of his community.
He is an excellent guide to show you the favela walking through the alleys and offer an afternoon with lots of learning, listening to the stories of the place and interacting with the residents. Visiting Rocinha is one of the best experiences in Rio, where you can take excellent photos and eat the best savory snacks at the lowest price in the city.
He is also the best person to show you Rocinha at night, where you can find restaurants serving northeastern and Japanese food at an excellent price, as well as endless bar options. And on this tour you will discover how Rocinha at night is one of the most lively places in the city.
I definitely recommend the tour with Erik, he is an amazing and fun person to be with.

From the moment we met our guide Eric, we knew we were in for a special tour. As a local whose family has lived in Rocinha for generations we were given a unique perspective of how life is lived in the largest favela in Brazil. A thrilling motorbike ride took us through the incredibly steep and winding narrow road to the very top. Taking in breathtaking views of Rio, we stroll our way down. Along the way Eric described the social history and culture of the place, we learned about important community initiatives in health and education. Saw amazing unique buildings, and homes, as well as the bustling shops and markets. We ended at a fantastic local restaurant for lunch. It was our most special day in Rio - thanks Eric!

It tells the story of the places we visit and presents us with a side of the community that the newspapers don't show.

Interesting excursion to discover the Rocinha favela (the largest in South America) accompanied by an expert guide Erick who introduced us to the place in absolute safety. Don't miss a stop at Laboriux rocinha with an exceptional view of Rio de Janeiro. I will be back as soon as possible!!!

Erik was fantastic. I took my partner to Rocinha for the first time and wanted him to see rocinha with a local, and have a full experience: eat loca food, walk the alleys, learn about the history of Rocinha etc. we had it all with Erik, and it was a great and memorable experience for both of us. Highly recommend.
