Very cool tour, we were accompanied from near the hotel to the train station. The trip took longer than I imagined but was quite comfortable. Our guide Yeycop was very informative and helpful throughout the Machu Picchu trail, he delved deeper into the culture and architecture of the place.

Uriel did an amazing job explaining the history and traditions of the Inca and Machu Picchu. He also clearly had a sense of how the weather would change and asked us to wait at the entrance for 30 minutes to allow for the clouds and rain to clear — which it did! Lots of folks who go to Machu Picchu this time of the year don’t have a lot of visibility so we were super grateful to him for knowing what to do in that moment.

The trip was a marvelous adventure from beginning to end. The drive from Cusco is lovely and the train ride was thrillingly beautiful. Being in the ancient city was even more magical than I had expected because our tour guide, Uriel, helped us use all of our senses to soak in the significance of the site for the Quechua of the past and present. We were impressed with how knowledgeable he was. He truly cared about us getting the most out of our experience. I will give one warning. We signed up for the most sought after tour and then were switched to a different tour and had to pay extra. Uriel definitely helped made up for it though. I learned so much.
