A multi-faceted city with layers of history, Rotterdam is one of the most intriguing cities in the Netherlands. This customizable private walking tour reveals Rotterdam’s true character, from its reconstruction after World War II to its busy cargo port, the largest in the world. Admire the city’s modern architecture, like the eye-catching Cubic Houses, against aging buildings that survived the war, like the old town hall. Stroll around the Old Harbor (Oude Haven), see Rotterdam Central Station, Markthal Rotterdam, Kunsthal museum and the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, and end with a relaxing cruise along Rotterdam Harbor.

Skip was absolutely wonderful. We have had knowledgeable guides (Skip was one of the best) but he was also kind. He put Rotterdams history in context which allowed us to understand the people, past and present. We can't thank him enoigh!

We met Adrien at 2:00 pm at our hotel and he explained much of the history of the city while we explored on foot through old and new Rotterdam. We stopped for fresh Stroop waffles at the Market and awed the amazing, often curious, architecture of Rotterdam, including the peculiar Cube Houses. All at a pace we were comfortable with, given it was a private tour. After 3 hours of walking, with brief stops, we were grateful to board the leisurely harbor cruise at 5:00 pm, where our guide departed. The Rotterdam Harbor is enormous and the cruise lasted 75 minutes. Great overall experience. Wear comfortable shoes!!

We LOVED our walking tour of Rotterdam. Our guide, Niels, was brilliant - hugely knowledgable, entertaining and the time flew by as he walked and talked us through Rotterdam's rich history, fascinating culture, beautiful architecture, cool street art and pointed out a few places for us to visit too as well as some personal anecdotes.

Our private tour of 14 people was planned well. Harold, our guide was personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed seeing the many sides of Rotterdam and faces of its architecture. Meeting him in town, since there was a free bus provided from our cruise port to city center was a good idea, since there was no backtracking. Having come in through the harbor on our cruise ship this Spido cruise was not necessary. While the boat was comfortable and fast, the audio tour on speakers throughout was difficult to follow/ keep interest. It was in several languages and quite monotoned. With limited time in the city, we would have enjoyed some time on our own to explore, ( as did one couple with foresight to leave /skip harbor cruise ) but instead had to return to our ship shortly after tour ended.

I love history, so learning about Rotterdam and its rise from the aftermath of WW 2 was so intriguing to me. Be prepared, it's a lot of walking, but I'm so glad I did it!

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip and can't thank VIATOR enough for providing an extrordinary guide to show us Rotterdam and answer just about every question we had. Our guide, a true professional who at one point was one of the top Program Directors for a famed river cruise line, met us early at the Rotterdam train station, our starting point, and proceded to guide us through a city whose rebuilding after Nazi bombing flattened it in the invasion of 1940 is one of the architectural rebuilding miracles of post World War Two Europe. Anyone. visiting the Netherlands who fails to take an educational walking tour like this is missing one of the great experiences of being a tourist.

Our tour guide, Raphael, was very knowledgeable and pleasant. He waited for us in the rain as we were running late...we were very relieved to still find him there. Luckily our weather cleared up. He is a native of Rotterdam and was able to apply personal anecdotes from his own upbringing to make our tour even more interesting. After the crazy hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, Rotterdam is a nice change of pace, and architecture. Wide, spotlessly clean streets, very sleek and modern. We thoroughly enjoyed our time getting to know Rotterdam and Raphael. Hope to return someday!

Highly recommend walking tour and harbor cruise with Viator's guide Jacob in Rotterdam. Grab your best walking shoes! We covered almost four miles. Jacob's English was perfect (of course he speaks five languages). His knowledge of Rotterdam was awesome and we saw many off the beaten path spots as well as the biggies. He paced the route perfectly for us and never failed to display humor and a pleasing personality. Our favorite port made even better with the tour by Jacob!
