Had an amazing tour with Omar and Hugo- they truly made the experience great! Going in the early morning made the heat bearable and the cenote was a great escape! Would highly recommend anyone looking to book a similar experience!

I learned a lot with the local culture. Tomas our tour guide from Amigo Tours was knowledegeable and organized with. He made sure to give us reminders to have an enjoyable trip. The Amigo bus was comfortable and clean and our driver is awesome. Kudos also to our group who are always on time and respected other people’s time.

We travelled from the riviera maya which entailed getting picked up with a mini van then travelling over an hour to the main coach to get to chichen itza which then took another 2 hours to get there. Our guide Thomas and driver Ricardo where great. Chichen itza tour was informative and very very hot even at 8am. Then 45mins to cenote which was ok but to commercial wanting you to buy things. Cenote was down tall wooden stair case had lots of fish in the water and little turtles. Then 2 hours back to mini van then another 1 hour to get back to hotel.... Wouldn't recommend this if your staying passed playa del carmen try find a more local one we used tourallnative last time which was excellent but think they must have stopped trading which is a shame

This adventure was amazing, Manuel (tequila) and Maro were amazing, it was like a dive into the cultural of the Mayans and Mexico combined. There wasn’t a dull moment on the tour bus with all the information they shared, I booked with Viator which connected me with amigos tours and I’m very grateful. Chichèn Itzá was a dream and the cenote was out of a movie. The waters were so clear but watch your step! The lunch was plenty and very good, the entire experience was 100/10 and our guides made it so much better !!

First off, props to our tour guide, Carmen, who was an absolute delight! She effortlessly managed our rather large group of 20 people, demonstrating her adeptness at corralling us. Carmen conducted the tour in both English and Spanish, showcasing her impressive language skills. Her knowledge about the area was commendable, and she remained open and ready to answer any questions.

Jose, our driver also played a crucial role in our journey. The ride to the Chichen Itza and back was very smooth, allowing some of us to even take a nap during the 2-hour drive. Safety was clearly a priority, and we appreciated that.

Early access is the way to go. We arrived at 8am, before the blistering noon sun. Chichen Itza was impressive. The lunch was mid. The highlight of our day was undoubtedly the cenote. Amidst the scorching afternoon heat, the cenote provided blissful relief.

However, there were a couple of hiccups. First, we had initially booked a tour that included Ek Balam. Unfortunately, less than 48 hours before the tour, we received notice that Ek Balam was no longer part of the itinerary. This change was disappointing, especially since we were looking forward to visiting that site. We are still waiting for a refund for that portion of the tour.

Secondly, the arrangement of pick-up spots caused some confusion. Although we had requested a specific hotel pick-up at 4:30 am, we didn’t receive confirmation. As luck would have it, the group pick-up point was relatively close to our accommodation, but we still had to walk there at 5 am.

Amigo Tours is undoubtedly a major player in Mexico’s tour industry, which lends them credibility. However, their size can also make them unwieldy. In the future, I recommend reaching out to them 24 hours prior to your tour to ensure confirmation and avoid any last-minute surprises.

Overall, our experience with Amigo Tours had its ups and downs, but Carmen’s charm and the amazing dip at the cenote made it memorable.

Ok, so let's get it out of the way—5am pick up time for a 2.5 hour drive to the middle of nowhere. And then after a long day in the sun, 2.5 hours back means you're getting back to your hotel by supper time (after eating a "free" lunch that's the only real disappointment). Those might turn you off.

Don't be a baby. This is your trip.

Look at the rest of the reviews on here—the common theme is getting to Chichen Itza ahead of the crowds, getting great shots for the Gram, bailing out before it gets TOO hot or TOO busy, and then a really fun and refreshing dip in a cenote before things get too crazy. Insert Mandolorian gif "THIS IS THE WAY" here.

Our tour guides Pastor and Ramiro were fantastic (I cannot fathom how they gave us all the background information on the bus in English and Spanish back to back as fluidly as they did), leading a nice tour across the Yucatan. We slept the first 90 minutes of the ride out to Chichen Itza, and then Pastor gave us a whole background of where we were going and what we would be seeing. (FYI, the bus can get a hair cold, so maybe snuggle up with the towel you need to bring for the cenote.) The guides got our tickets while we waited, and then we wandered the Chichen Itza grounds and got all kinds of background information on how these buildings were so uniquely constructed. LOTS of cool information, albeit a bit rushed... but the alternative is you driving out by yourself and taking hours at the site, and my 16-year-old probably wouldn't have had a huge tolerance for a LOT more time out there. The tour IS fast-paced, without a ton of time to dilly dally, and it's hot and sunny AF, so bring hats for shade, UV covers, sunscreen, and maybe even an umbrella. 10/10, though, would recommend.

We loaded up the bus, and a 40 minute drive later, we ended up at the Chichikan cenote, which was a whole tourist spot. They start you out with a little Shaman ceremony to "bless" your trip in, and then there IS one of those "10 minutes at this artisan shop where we hard-sell you stuff". Get past that, and then you're given 90 minutes to split between eating at a buffet and going into the cenote. Buffet is mid for sure, and the drinks are expensive, but without breakfast and after being in the sun all day, it wasn't the worst thing in the world (but admittedly probably our worst meal over the course of the week in Mexico). When you go into the cenote, you ARE required to have a lifejacket on, which isn't the end of the world, but it is a THING. After all that, on the way out, there is a tequila tasting station that I blew off, just counting on and expecting it to be a tourist trap thing... and boy did I mistime and misread it. The tequila was legitimately good (I'll dream about their coffee one for the rest of my life), and I probably should have brought a $60 bottle home because it was absolutely dope.

Loaded up and LONG trip back, but dropped off right where we were picked up, right outside my hotel. Would absolutely recommend! The only little *thing* I'd point out is that what you're paying here on Viator/Amigo Tours is for the bus and tour guide—you will have to pay an addition $40ish to enter Chichen Itza, plus another (I think) $8 for the required life jacket. But hey... you GOT to do it. Just keep in mind that that'll essentially double your price. But there's no way you're doing all this without GOING FOR IT, so just plan accordingly. (To Amigo Tour's credit, you can pay that additional cost off a credit card or Apple Pay on the bus, so don't worry about cash money other than tipping the driver/guides.)
