Our guide Don was great! We had a wonderful, personalized, and informative experience. He took the time to learn all of our names which made a 15 person group feel a lot smaller. We learned a lot on the trip over which made the trip there go so quickly! Thanks for a great experience. Would definitely recommend this!

Seeing the green hills approaching hobbiton for the first time while The Lord of the Rings soundtrack was playing in the van was a magical experience.

Our tour guide/driver Simon gave us a good commentary on the way to Hobbiton and made sure we were well looked after. Enjoyed the guided tour around the movie set where we were with a group of 30 . Plenty of time to look around everything there and on the way back to Auckland saw more of the beautiful Waikato countryside.

Beautiful view and well organised tour. A must do when visiting Auckland ! Please make sure to check the weather before booking the trip though.

What an amazing way to spend the day, the views were spectacular and I took so many photos. The guides were fabulous and their knowledge and passion was excellent (thanks Miriam) we were lucky enough to walk through the full sized hobbit hole, which we were told has only been open since December.
Overall, excellent experience

Excellent drive to and from Hobbiton. Our guide, Grant, was a lovely human being, full of great stories and good advice. Bus was on the cramped side but the personable tour guide, smaller group, and perks like water and snacks made up for it, as well as hotel-to-hotel pick-ups and drop-offs!

Grant did an awesome job making sure we got exactly to and from the tour on time and gave us wonderful conversation along the way. He even took us to ice cream afterwards

Despite some rain at the start of the tour, hobbiton is one magical place that brought sunshines & smiles throughout our day. And as Grant (our tour driver/coordinator) said, a successful journey is when it ends where everyone is home safe...Thanking Grant for making sure we had the best day & safe journey at the same time, capped with his recommendation of the hokey pokey ice cream!

Well worth the money to book transportation from downtown Auckland to Hobbiton. It was a bit of a drive and I’m glad I was able to enjoy some of the amazing sites on the road. Obviously the visit to Hobbiton was the star on this trip but I also throughly enjoyed our return trip through the rolling farm lands. Our guide, Grant, did a great job keeping us entertained the whole time.

The only thing I would do differently is to book a regular tour bus instead of a small group tour. While I appreciated the intimacy of a smaller group, I’m a bit on the taller side (1.85m) and the van isn’t met for larger travelers.

All in all, it was a great tour and Hobbiton is a must do while visiting northern New Zealand.
