Explore the magnificent lava tunnel Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest and best-known lava tubes in Iceland. Located just 30-40 minutes from Reykjavík, the tunnel is easily accessible year round. Discover the inner workings of a volcanic eruption and walk along the path where lava flowed during the Leitahraun eruption, which occurred approximately 5200 years ago. Our tour is approximately one hour whereas platforms and lights have been incorporated - making the experience of visiting the cave simply breathtaking. The tour includes all necessary equipment. The Extreme tour definitely requires you to be in shape and willing to scramble up a lot of rocks, but the guide was AMAZING. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the lava tunnel itself and fielded all of our questions with ease. After the tour she also hung around to give us recommendations for food and activities for the rest of our stay in Iceland. 5/5. What an incredible experience.

We really enjoyed our 1 hour tour in mid May on our last day heading back after the Ring Road before the Blue Lagoon. At this time of year, the crowds were low and there were still ice stalagmites. Beautiful, interesting and fascinating. Wear a warm coat and sturdy shoes. They provide a hard hat and head lamp for safety and have coffee for sale in the lobby with plenty of photo opportunities in the cave.

Amazing place! Very beautiful and interesting! The guide was super friendly, gave us time to take photos and of course explained everything about the place. I just thought the tour could be 1:30 long. 1h was quick for what an incredible place it is.

My wife and I went on a tour in May 2024 with Alex. He was fantastic! Incredibly funny and also very knowledgeable about not only this specific lava tunnel but the history of lava tunnels all across Iceland. The cave is definitely something to experience before you leave Iceland! 5/5 and if we ever come back we are sure to go again!

Wanted to do the full run, but wasnt allowed to, due to shoo limitations which werent very well stated. Regardless even though i felt the tour was a bit short, it was very beautifull and worth it!

Great tour especially in early May since there are still icicles in the tunnel. Our guide Sóley was very knowledgeable. Bring layers, gloves and winter hat, Iceland is very windy.
