Our travel advisor arranged this tour for us, and it was a big highlight of our trip to Korea.
Chef Yie is a super nice guy, and it was wonderful getting to know him. He even prepared vegan treat bags for both me and my wife, with our names handwritten in Korean!
The market is incredible, and the food is amazing! There is no way we would have been comfortable eating at the market without having Chef Yie navigate what is vegan and what isn't.
We sampled (and more than sampled!) a large number of dishes from different vendors throughout the market, including quite a few Korean doughnuts that I still think about now.
I highly recommend eating minimally or even fasting before the tour so you won't get full -- the only problem we had on the tour is that about 2/3's the way in we started getting really full! Though not full enough not to eat the Korean doughnuts!

The vegan food tour at Gwangjang Market in Seoul was such a nice adventure to me !
Thanks to our super enthusiastic Korean chef YIE , I got to taste some flavors totally different from what I expected, but wow, everything was just delicious!
The kimchi was nothing like what I've had in France, and I even dared to try dishes I'd never order on my own. (Was a bit worried about accidentally eating meat or something too spicy.)
They served up these vegan pancakes called Jeon (made with mungo beans, but tasted like heavenly potatoes), flavorful bibimbap (thanks to the chef who asked mine ‘non-spicy' as he ordered all food for us , what a relief to me…) , some radish gimbap, and stuffed tofu – every bite was so fresh and tasty... oh, and we even tried this Korean chestnut wine. It was divine!
Beyond just eating, our guide shared some cool stories about Korean culinary and cultural history, making this tour way more than just a food tour. My friends are coming to Seoul in April, and I told them to book this tour ASAP. I bet our guide's gonna be busy very soon!"

Chef Jie guided us through a wonderful open air market in Seoul, pointing out different ingredients and other things available for purchase, then provided five different Korean dishes. Wonderful food, lots of interesting sights and flavors, fun experience. Of note: Chef Jie was very helpful in ensuring that everyone's food preferences were known - not only allergies. Spice-level, vegan vs. vegetarian, specific ingredients to be avoided, etc.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour - great experience with a wonderful guide.

Chef Yie was awesome! I had a great time and ate a ton of delicious vegetarian and vegan food. Chef Yie guided me through the market and answered my questions about the food and how it’s made. It would have been impossible for me to figure out what was truly vegan on my own but Chef Yie was super knowledgeable and communicated with the market sellers for me. I’m so thankful to Chef Yie for an amazing experience!

This experience was a highlight of our time in Korea. Chef Yie was an amazing tour guide, very friendly, knowledgable and easy to chat with. We had so much good food to eat, we can’t recommend Chef Yie and this tour highly enough. If we could give six stars we would!!
