Brief history of Paronella Park José Paronella arrived in Australia from Catalonia in Spain, in 1913. For the next 11 years he worked, cutting sugar cane initially, then purchasing, improving, and reselling cane farms. In 1924 he returned to Spain and married Margarita in 1925. The trip back to Australia was their honeymoon.
Jose’s dream was to build a castle which is unique in itself as this Spanish style castle has never been built anywhere else in Australia.
He chose a special part of Australia and created Paronella Park. He chose a special part of Australia and created Paronella Park. On 5ha beside Mena Creek Falls he built his castle, picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, a tunnel, and wrapped it up in an amazing range of 7,500 tropical plants and trees (now a lush rainforest!

Booked this trip to meet our cruise in Cairns. The trip was excellent, Michael really knows his subject, the car was modern and very comfortable for a day trip. We went to places we had not been before which was great. We reached Paronella Park early which allow more time to explore. the dinner was excellent, we were not rushed and had plenty of time to eat and then return for the night tour. All round the trip was excellent and would highly recommend Michael and Elite Tours if you want a great day out. Thanks Michael.

Had Michael Thomason from Elite Tours Cairns as our driver. We found Michael extremely engaging & very informative & very professional. From th moment he picked us up from th Airport to taking us around & seeing various tourist attractions. He went out of his way th whole time. Truly great bloke & would highly recommend him for anything you’d like to see or do. You won’t be disappointed.
