I will start by saying that I usually do my due diligence to read through reviews before booking anything but that was not the case when I scheduled this tour. There are no current reviews and I am not sure why. The tour is reasonably priced for what it offers but there are many hidden costs once you start the tour. I will start with the personal transportation that was provided, and sold as an upgrade when I now understand that it is due to the driver being the sole personal responsible for the "company" that puts this tour on. He continuously mentioned that he was going to finally "be honest" about how he provided his own car to drive around, and offered the tasting of his own tequila that was for sale not just tasting. The "Cenote Preservation Tax" mentioned in the ad turns out to be more than $50/person in addition to the $38 that is paid up front. I would think taxes were imposed by the government and able to be paid at the location, by any means of payment since this is a governmental tax but no, the tour guide only wanted to accept cash and when we only had card, he proceeded to use his own conversion rate AND manually added a 10% credit card fee that he insisted was done by my bank. We opted out of shopping, which saved him time on the tour but when we got to the Cancun signage for photos, he told us the wait was going to be too long and that we were unable to do that part of the tour either. We planned to tip him in cash at the end of the tour but when things were all said and done, we spent a total of $93/person on a swim in the Cenote 7 and a shot of Tequila. They did provide a Mexican lunch that was appreciated but not worth an additional $40/person. We walked away with a very bad attitude and perception of this place because it did not have to be done that way. Viator needs to include all fees/taxes in the original purchase price and also provide clarification on the company that is providing the tour. I also want to note that I requested a refund prior to the day of the tour and I was denied. I understand the cancellation policy but after what took place, I will no longer be using this site to book anything due to the lack of follow up and missing details in their advertisement of tours.
