Arriving at the museum the download for the tickets would not work. It gave an Error message. We had to pay admission to the museum despite already paying Viator. Now I cannot get my refund.

Rate 3. One reason is that some areas of museum was isolated without notice. Another reason is the guide programe is not updated well. Some room numbers and exhibited items are not matched or missing.

It was fantastic to see all the artifacts and learn the historical age (amazing) but we were missing an overview. Since most of us took some form of Greek history in school, we felt we still needed a refresher to put the story of leaders/ages together.
If you purchase tickets online and show your pass to enter, you jump the line which is great, but are whisked into the museum with very little if no orientation. Happy to use a QR code to access a website or app, but nothing was offered. We searched for the website and a map and found one but still felt the organization of objects was random. The website has a virtual tour – great – but still needs that timeline.

This collection is a must see if you’re visiting Athens. Laid out very nicely, you’ll want to allow 2-3 hours for your visit. Nice cafeteria downstairs also.

6/26/23 Athens Greece. I paid for admission for two to the National Archeological Museum with audio. No instructions for audio were included with the ticket as stated and instructions were not available through the museum. I respectfully requested a refund for the audio portion. To date I have not received a response. The cost was approximately double the cost if we had booked directly through the museum

It’s not necessary to buy skip the line tickets if going in the late afternoon. Also we purchased these tickets specifically to receive the audio explanation of the exhibits and when we arrived we were told no such audio tour exists at the museum. Will be submitting for a refund.

A fantastic museum, well organized, amazing pieces. A shame some sculptures are incomplete because of pilfering and are in other museums out of Greece. Pay attention to the hours, they open later on Tuesdays (which worked out wonderfully for us, we arrived a little while before opening unknowingly, and we able to be some of the first visitors inside
