The PADI Open Water Diver course is a first level certification that teach you step by step all the necessary skills and give you the informations to became a responsible and safe diver. If you are at least 15 years old (10 for the Junior certification), are in good physical health, have adequate swimming skills and you love nature and the ocean, scuba diving is one of the best manner to start to be a part of it.

Me, my son (10 yrs) and daughter (12 yrs) completed the Padi Open Water course with Scuba Libre, at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort, having first completed the Padi E-Learing. I must admit I was a little apprehensive to start with, but the instructor was amazing from the onset. The level of engagement was pitched perfectly for the kids, enthusiastic and patient, wholly professional. The training dives and fun dives were fabulous.
I would highly recommend completing your training with the team at Scuba Libre.

We had a great training instructor Giovanna Lombardo, who taught in a very calm, clear and confident way. My daughter and I enjoyed her humor, explanations and passion for diving. In one session at the pool and four in the open water near the reef we passed and got our Padi. Not only Jo was fun but Nicky, from the Scuba center managed it all really well. It was a great experience!

We did the 3-day PADI advanced diver course and was very impressed. My wife was the student and was very nervous and has some physical handicaps. After the 1st day the staff at Playa del carmen (PDC) crafted a customized syllabus for my wife all while remaining within our limited schedule. She came away happy and confident in her new skills. Very pleased with her instructor David and staff at the PDC location. Oh, and diving off shore there was better than expected, reefs are good and lots of fish and turtles

Completed our open water portion of our certification. Had a great time. Such an amazing experience. Thanks to Jorge for an amazing time.
We were brought to some awesome dive sites and got to see some wonderful sea life.

Awesome experience!!! I was looking to get my PADI certification for open water and there could not have need a better place to do it than at Playa del Carmen with Scuba Libre! My dive instructor Sergio was extremely experienced and professional. In fact he's an instructor for instructors and is passionate about diving in all occasions. His help made my learning experience very simple and strait forward. Nicky was very helpful with all the administrative functions and making sure I was able to complete the course on time. Her help made my schedule very smooth. On top of that, my whole diving experience was only $400 ( including the course, rental, training material and certification) and the training center is right at the heart of Playa del Carmen. You can't ask for a better way to get certified.

My husband and two boys (15 and 12) completed their open water diving course here. Excellent communication with the dive school prior to coming and they were extremely accommodating when we were here. All three completed 6 dives in total. A wonderful experience- thank you x

I got my Open Water certification in 2013; however, I went to Scuba Libre at Sandos with my boyfriend and did my refresher course while he did the Open Water course. The dive instructors we dealt with (Manu and Jaime) are fabulous They are meticulous and professional. The dives were great. The guys on the boat were friendly. We couldn't have asked for more. Having had some experience with other dive shops, I would definitely say that Scuba Libre was the most fastidious in ensuring all skills were done properly. Safety is paramount for them.
We can't wait to go back next year!

Staff is very nice and speak many languages! It was perfect to do two dives in a row in the afternoon.
The equipment is right next to the beach so no need to walk for long before getting on the boat.
There was a camera lady under water to take pictures and video of us. She tried to sell them to us for 60USD which I think is really pricey. When we said we would only take one for 20USD she was a bit annoyed. The picture was sent to us by email not a print out.
Overall the dives were amazing and diving instructors and staff at the shop were top.
