Beautiful tour, amazing jungle scenery and a great team supporting you for the whole tour. Our tour guide Sergio was great! He told awesome stories about the culture and was well spoken and loud to hear on the trail. All the horses were well behaved as the riding was casual and slow paced.

Highly recommend for first time horseback riders like me!

Great time. Laid back but professional. Knowledgeable people who care about the horses like family. Sergio was the best.

I really enjoyed the tour. It wasn't a normal tour with the guide throwing information to us, it was more relaxing and engaching. The guide Paula was made the experience more excited as well as the horses did. The horses Macarena and Chilly, were awsome. These two females are mother and daughter. Chilly was rescued when she was pregnant of Macarena. All the horses here were rescued, so it brang a deeper meaning and relevance to the tour. I highly recomend the tour, not only for the horses but also for the experience itself. Is another level.

I’ve had the best morning tour with these guys! Everything was very organised and seamless, I simply had to enjoy. We were originally a group of seven but as three of us were experienced riders and the other four were beginners, we went in two groups. I’ve had the pleasure of riding Julio and have been extremely happy with this sweet boy. Our guide Paula told us a lot about Mayan culture and the history of the ranch throughout the ride, always in a fun entertaining way that made it really easy to listen to her. We took a short break halfway through the ride so the horses could rest a little, which I really appreciated. Throughout the entire experience and my stay on the ranch I could really feel how the workers and the team truly care for all the animals on site. They’re all rescues, from the horses to the dogs and donkeys, and each animal is being treated with respect and the time it needs to adjust. During the ride there was always on cowboy per guest, so in case you would feel a little wary they would’ve gotten off their horse to lead you for as long as you need. After the ride we had the chance to enjoy a swim in the cenote on the ranch, towels are being provided. If you don’t feel like going for a swim, they’ll take you around the ranch to tell you about the animals and their stories. I have been riding for 16+ years and can wholeheartedly recommend the Bonanza Ranch for a ride, where one can be sure that the horses aren’t just used as a tourist attraction!

The experience was great and peaceful. The tour guide Paola was excellent as well as the other cowboys from the ranch. My horse Julio was so gentle even when he got a little scared. I hadn’t ridden a horse since I was a little girl and all the instructions were very well explained by the whole team. 5 out of 5 experience.

This ranch is amazing! I'm always a little nervous riding in new places, not knowing how they treat the horses. All of the horses and other animals on the ranch are exceptionally well carried for. In fact, most are rescued and rehabbed, which I absolutely loved supporting! The guides were extremely knowledgeable about the jungle and culture as well as their horses and gave so much fun information about all. I would recommend this to any level rider as a wonderful experience that I will repeat anytime we return to the area.

The people here were awesome!! They knew so much about the area and Mayan culture. They were all so nice and fun to be around. We had so many laughs and the horses were beautiful. Truly, our group of 4 all agreed this was a highlight of our trip and we had such a great time here! Paola was such a great guide and Sergio was so fun! Also, we love Maya & Joy (the pups).

Sergio conducted our tour and did a fabulous job. He is personable, funny and informative. We loved that the animals are all rescues and were touched by their stories. The cowboys that accompanied us kept a close eye on us and made sure we were handling the horses correctly. The jungle was hot, so finishing the experience at the denote was perfect. The swim was very refreshing. We loved it!

My Husband and I went on this tour today and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. Our tour guide Fabian and Sergio really made the trip with their friendliness and knowledge and it shone through how much they all cared for the animals there. The other cowboys on the ranch were really lovely too, made me feel totally at ease on the horses riding through the forest. My horse Cinnamon was the best and my Husbands horse Julio was good for him too. Was nice at the end to have a refreshing swim in the cenote and to share by peanut bar with the little donkey Madonna who is just the sweetest. Would highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting Mexico 🇲🇽 x

Our guides and cowboys were excellent. Fabian is a wealth of knowledge.

During the tour he pointed out many things and gave good explanations of the flora and fauna of the jungle.

Orlando the paparazzo was everywhere, like a ninja in the jungle. He took lots of great photos.

The guides assigned the horses to us based on experience and weight.

My horse was named Macarena, my partner’s horse was Julio. Both very well behaved and sweet horses, followed the trail diligently without needing much direction at all, except to steer them away from eating grass.

The trail took us to an unexplored wild cenote where we took a break from the ride to give the horses a rest and hear more about the area.

We rode back to the ranch and were given the opportunity to swim in a cenote on the property, a refreshing dip after a hot day.

We were fortunate that no one else booked our time slot, so we had the whole tour and trail to ourselves.

The horses are all rescues from various industries in Mexico. Many of the horses suffered injuries that made then unsuitable for the jobs they were doing previously, racing, performing etc… saved from slaughter and given a second chance at a relaxing life on Rancho Bonanza.

It is very clear the horses and all the animals on the ranch are well cared for. Our horses were nice and fat, well fed with shiny coats.

Things to know - because these horses are all previous rescues with injuries, they do have a weight limit of 220lbs, you will be weighed before being able to get on the horse.

An excellent experience, highly recommended.
