Unforgettable Hot Air Balloon Ride Over the City of the Gods

I had never been on a balloon ride and didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the trip was. We started early in the morning at the balloon site and got to see the balloons being inflated before the ride started (I suggest getting transportation with Javier to the balloon site as it is simpler than finding your own transportation). The ride was surprisingly peaceful. Takeoff and landing were very smooth, no turbulence for the entire ride. I almost even forgot that we were in an aircraft (besides that we were hundreds of feet in the air). The views of course were stunning. Javier was also a great host who you can chat with and ask questions.

Javier and his team were amazing. They were responsive and helpful the whole time. I loved the pickup option (they picked us up right in front of our airbnb). Provided light snacks, tea, and coffee at the take off place. Our ride lasted approximately 1 hr. We got some great pics and felt like safety was #1 priority. We also got to explore the archeological site for an hour too. Overall for price I think this was very much worth it and would recommend to anyone. Also there was no language barrier Javier spoke great English which can sometimes be difficult here. His rating here may not be comparable to some other hot air balloon guides on Viator yet but DO NOT let this influence your decision.

WOW WOW WOW!

This is a dream come true, and we highly recommend going with this tour operator. Communication was handled in a timely and professional fashion, and pick-up was easy and convenient.

The balloon ride was incredible. The pilot was able to get us on top of the pyramids for a great view of the city of the Gods.

We chose this tour mainly because we didn't want to waste our time and money on tourist traps. The rest of the tours have compulsory visits to "workshops," including eating in a cave, which I read that for many people have resulted in stomach infections.

Besides the no-nonsense stuff, we were pleasantly surprised with the breakfast buffet provided in a gorgeous country club. Food was delicious and we even went horse riding.

All in all, we highly recommend Javier and his team.

It was an amazing tour, it was worth starting so early(4:40 am) to get to the pyramids. Javier was on time and planned it so well for us, we did the hot air balloon and then went to the pyramids first before breakfast at a country club. Which was really a good idea , We were done with our tour before it got really hot.

Highly recommend this experience led by Javier and Sarahi! The two operators were professional and friendly, although there was a slight hiccup with hotel pick up/drop off, this was rectified promptly via whatsapp. Maybe the booking process can be a little more clear on the pick up zones to avoid the confusion.

After that, everything was perfect and seamless. We were picked up from our hotel at 5am and greeted by Javier and Sarahi. Javier spoke great English, Sarahi spoke just Spanish but she did try, which we really appreciated. We had a small group of 6 and we were the only ones that booked round trip transportation so we got a private ride to the destination which took just under an hour.

At arrival we checked in and was provided coffee and snacks while the team inflated the balloon, which in itself was quite a spectacle. Sarahi mentioned that the third party photography company was quite expensive so she offered to take photos for us at no cost which was very kind.

After about half an hour of photos and coffee the six of us hopped in the balloon and off we went! Our pilot was very experienced and was able to guide the balloon right over the pyramids while explaining things both in English and Spanish. The view of the rising sun over the pyramids with the sky dotted with balloons was an unforgettable experience. The balloon had great mood setting music which felt specifically curated to the experience. A drone came around to take videos of us and we took turns ducking out of sight for some footage without the other people. This was available to purchase after the ride.

After we landed our pilot initiated a toast and provided a detailed explanation of the history of hot air ballooning. That was quite interesting. We even got to pull the firing trigger!

After that we got driven back to the main site and regrouped. There was an option for breakfast and tour of the pyramids but we skipped the tour due to time constraints.

Breakfast was at a beautiful lake side location. The buffet restaurant is run by a famous chef who's name escapes me. The service was attentive and the food was delicious, far from what you would expect from a breakfast buffet. This came at an extra cost but was well worth it.

Wrapping up, the group was split and Javier and Sarahi drove us back to our hotel while the others went to the pyramids.

All in all a fantastic experience and one you will never forget!

Excellent! Totally recommended, price=quality. Javi was very attentive and the girls Sarahí and Carolina were excellent hosts, they arrived at the time agreed upon by us and the balloon ride is very safe, with an incredible view!

VIP hot air balloon flight experience in Teotihuacan, Mexico City offered by Javier.

We had a small basket that carried just the pilot, my husband and I.

The tour included pick-up from our AirBnB, a light breakfast pre-flight with pastries/coffee (not gluten free, so I just had coffee and fed a little of the bread to the sweet local dogs) at the hot air balloon company and an hour long flight. You can buy socks, ponchos, other gifts at the shop - which seemed to be reasonably priced.

The tour offers a sunrise adventure where we soared above the ancient pyramids and saw breathtaking views of the archaeological site and local town.

The flight lasted approximately one hour, giving us plenty of time to capture memorable photos and enjoy the serene experience. (there were go-pro photos taken, but we weren’t given/shown copies of these). There were 2 local people selling souvenirs when we landed.

After the flight, we were given a bottle of water and granola bar and taken by a professional guide who provided historical and cultural insights about Teotihuacan around the pyramids with a small group (about 2 hours). It does get quite warm, so you may want to pack extra water. I was thankful our driver brought an extra hat for me to wear. There were plenty of vendors to buy souvenirs from throughout the ruins.

After this we were taken to a local country club for a breakfast buffet (fruits, cereals, chilaquiles, pastries, coffee, etc). You could also order off a menu, if preferred. We walked around the grounds after, enjoying the peacocks, a horse (you could ride if you wanted) and avoiding the belgian malinois guard dogs that were tied up. It was a beautiful site.

We were then taken back to our AirBnB, where we were ready for some rest after a delightful day.

If you visit Mexico City you MUST sign up for this tour! This is our second trip to Mexico City and our second time booking our hot air balloon ride through Javier. We opted for the private trip this time as there were four in our group and the price difference was quite small. We were a couple with our 7 year old daughter and my 65 year old mother. Javier recommended a different balloon company this trip to allow for a smaller balloon and we were hesitant at first as we had such a wonderful experience the first trip, but we trusted his expertise and couldn't have been happier with our trip. We were fortunate to have Javier be our guide himself this trip and were happy to meet him in person when he picked us up at our airbnb in Polanco. The 40 minute trip to the launching site went by quickly and we were grateful to leave our things safely in his new van during our flight. We checked in for the flight, signed our waivers and were loaded up almost immediately. Monsie, our pilot, was amazing! The winds were favoring all ~50 or so balloons in the air to pass below the pyramids, but Monsie knew what she was doing, raising our altitude to catch another wind current and bring us back to a different trajectory where we were able to fly right over the pyramids while the rest of the balloons missed them by quite a distance. We were grateful for her commitment and extra time to getting us close. We were one of the first balloons to take off and last to land and couldn't have been happier with our flight. Javier was waiting for us when we were returned to the launching site.

He offered to take us to a local country club afterward before our return to the city. We had the whole place to ourselves almost and enjoyed a freshly made authentic Mexican breakfast, paddle-boating and horse-back riding.

Javier continued to provide recommendations to us throughout our trip and we look forward to seeing him on our next return trip.

If you are looking to be in good hands for this once-in-a-lifetime experience, I can't recommend this tour enough!
