This is a full day tour to two beautiful and important historical sites: Cholula and Puebla, which is only 2 hours from Mexico City.

You will continue your tour visiting the Church of Santa María Tonantzintla, this Franciscan temple is extremely interesting because it is an example of the "Indigenous Baroque".

1. Great Pyramid of Cholula
The Archaeological Zone of Cholula has three areas enabled for its public visit, firstly the Site Museum of the Archaeological Zone of Cholula with its three permanent exhibition halls; secondly, the route inside the tunnel inside the Great Pyramid that consists of approximately 280 meters of route in the same plane, artificially illuminated and without risks that the visitor may get lost, and finally the so-called open area of the Archaeological Zone of Cholula constituted by the ceremonial patios of the south and the west of the Great Pyramid of Cholula.
2. Templo de Santa Maria Tonantzintla
The church of Santa María Tonantzintla was declared a historical monument on November 11, 1933; It has four constructive stages that go from s. XVII to XX. It has a simple façade that seems not to announce the profusion of elements that are inside, presenting sculptures of clear indigenous manufacture in three niches at the front, and four in the tower, representing the evangelists carrying the message of God to the four directions.

The Cathedral Basilica of Puebla, as it is known to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception according to its Marian advocation, is the episcopal seat of the Archdiocese of Puebla. It is one of the most important buildings of the historic center declared a World Heritage Site. It has the prerogative of being the first sumptuous temple that under good designs was made in America, consecrated in 1649 it went ahead to the Metropolitan of Mexico that was dedicated in 1653.
4. Capilla del Rosario, Templo de Santo Domingo
The chapel of the Virgen del Rosario is the chapel attached to the Temple of Santo Domingo in the city of Puebla, Mexico. Work of the seventeenth century, the peak of the baroque novohispano, was described at the time as the House of Gold, as well as the eighth wonder of the world by Fray Diego de Gorozpe, in a form of 1690.
5. Biblioteca Palafoxiana
The creation of this library was approved by royal decree in December 1647 and reconfirmed by Pope Innocent X in 1648. For more than 360 years, the Palafoxiana Library, has been based in the Old College of San Juan within the Seminary founded by Palafox and Mendoza. Although the construction of the vault, as it is in our days was made in 1773, by Bishop Francisco Fabián y Fuero, who ordered the first two floors of the bookshelf to be erected, which is a fine work of the New Spain cabinetmakers They worked harmoniously the woods of ayacahuite, polocote and cedar. From this period dates the delicate altarpiece where the effigy of the Madonna of Trapani is located, oil that is presumed to be made taking as a model the sculpture that Nino Pisano made of the Virgin in the 14th century. Later, in the nineteenth century, a third level was placed because the number of volumes that were in the library had increased, 4 in fact the library has 45 058 old books.

Ramon was our guide. He provided a continuous and detailed running commentary throughout the trip. We got a ton of local context and history that we would not have gotten otherwise. The entire trip took about 11 hours including the trip to/from. Covered Pueblo, Cholula and Tonanzintla.

Sergio was a great guide. He was informative and entertaining. His enthusiasm and pride for what Mexico has to offer is palpable. Cholula and Puebla are well worth the visit.

We booked this tour the night before trying to find a different well known area to explore and it was totally worth it! Our tour guide was very informational and gave us a great tour of Cholula and Puebla. If you truly want to see the most of these areas, this tour will definitely do that for you. Lots of great stops and walking around the community (if you are not a big fan of walking around, then this is not the tour for you). One of us even needed to stop for some tums for an upset stomach and our tour guide went out of his way to find a place.

This was a wonderful trip outside of CDMX. Our guide Arturo and driver Arturo were exceptional. They were punctual and catered to our needs. Arturo is knowledgeable and it shows. Cholula was amazing as was Puebla. Definitely recommend them!

Communication before the trip wasn't great. I emailed for confirmation before but received no reply and on the day of the trip the hotel had to chase when nobody had arrived at the scheduled time.

However once the trip got under way it was all good. I had mainly booked for the visit to Puebla, not knowing much about Cholula but this part of the trip was definitely worthwhile. The history of the pyramid and the ornate interiors of the churches were very interesting. And Puebla is a beautiful interesting city. Our guide was very knowledgeable and communicated well.

We enjoyed the trip and would recommend.

We wish that we had had more communication (or any communication that we didn't initiate) from the local tour company before our pickup, but from the moment we were picked up, we had a wonderful time. Ramon, our guide, and Juan, our driver, were experienced professionals, and we were absolutely delighted by Ramon's breadth of knowledge*, friendliness, and enthusiasm for the places we traveled to. Because it was a private tour, we could also adapt it for our pace and interests, and we were delighted to visit some off-the-beaten-path sights as well. We would eagerly take a tour by Ramon again!
*Like, we would go into the weeds on linguistics, art, and architecture, and he provided authoritative knowledge, as a trained and licensed guide.
