This guided tour is very organized and adheres to a schedule we modify to continue to provide the best experience. Please note that our tour spends the longest time in Tolantongo, allowing you to truly enjoy your time in Tolantongo without feeling rushed by your tour company throughout the day. Our guides are extremely fluent in their English language skills. Most have lived a major part of their life in the United States and or Canada. We provide comfort in our transportation, by not allowing our vehicles to be cramped and tight with too many guests. Our guides also have a good relationship with the community of employees that work in Tolantongo. Our mutual respect for one another allows for a better experience for our guests than you could imagine. Our guides are given a fair wage for their excellent service.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will meet at the "Angel de Independencia" approximately around 6:15am, departing early to escape the city chaos. Our group will have private comfortable transportation. We will stop for an early breakfast in Actopan, a city halfway to our destination. travel time to the restaurant is approximately 90 minutes.
2. Actopan
Vegetarian friendly options with limited vegan options. Breakfast is on us.

We will pass by the quiet town of San Cristobal, Hgo. This is the town and community that owns las Grutas de Tolantongo. The drive from breakfast to this spot will be approximately 90 minutes. Along the way, we will briefly stop for any missing supplies you may be needing for the day's adventure.
4. Tolantongo
The day is divided into three parts. Pool Tranquility: Start your day relaxing a while in the “pocitos”; naturally warm thermal pools that provide astounding views that soothe & clear the body and mind –perfect for “the gram.” From here, there is a zip-lining options to get you down to the next part of our day at the river. Please note that zip lining is not included in the price of the tour (200 Mexican pesos). Our guide will make sure to have all the essentials you will need for the day. Drive from the breakfast stop to actually touching the water is typically two and a half hours. Actual time spent at the pools is roughly one hour and forty minutes.
5. Tolantongo
River Relaxation: Next, the turquoise-colored river is well-managed and is naturally warm due to the thermal springs, a complete relaxing experience. Lunch will be alongside the river (weather permitting). Lunch is not included. We provide a menu that you can place your order from to save time and better enjoy the river. We will collect your lunch total during the day. Tables and chairs are included. Please note that the time spent includes time it takes to move around throughout the day.
6. Grutas Tolantongo
Cave Exploration: Finally, you will see awe-inspiring waterfalls and unexpected adventure that our guests have described as “life changing.” Our guides will take you to explore the caverns and tunnels located here. Enjoy the water falls covering the caves and take a swim in the warm pool inside the mountain. We will head out by 5:30PM arriving between 9-10:30PM, full of new experiences and photos to share with envious family and friends.

We will make a stop on the way home to try a few pastes (samples). Pastes are traditional English treat that was left behind by the English miners that once worked the mines in Hidalgo. Think flaky crust (croissant) stuffed with Mexican savory or sweet delights. Similar to an empanada. Time spent here is typically 15 minutes, but is two hours away on the way back to CDMX.
8.
Final stop to get you home. From the pastes to CDMX, the trip should be under two hours, weather and traffic permitting.

10/10 everything was organized and on time. Tour guide was perfect driver was punctual. The ride didn’t even feel long because of the well thought out stops. I recommend going on a weekday

Early start and late finish = a long, but fun and memorable day. Tour company is organized and thoughtful when it comes to breaks and giving us drinks and snacks. The vehicle they use is a large 20 person passenger van that is pretty comfortable unless you sit in the very back row against the back doors. Pools are relaxing. Time spent very adequate. Caves exploration was the peak of this trip. Amazing! The river is a beautiful relaxing time. They gave us two hours which was enough for us to eat, socialize with the group then swim for 30 minutes.

Joe, our guide, and Nico, our driver are exceptional. The tour was well planned, and I enjoyed my time getting to know the other travelers. I am taking another tour of Mexico City on Friday and cannot wait!

Early start was definitely worth it for one. You were taken care of throughout the journey with lunch, water and snacks given to you throughout to keep your energy levels up. You have plenty of time to explore the pools, the caves and the rivers and it was quite a relaxed pace so you don't feel rushed. Van was comfortable although the AC could be a bit stronger as it could get hot with a full group. Really enjoyed the day, Damian was a great host and with the driver we got back in good time despite the Mexico City traffic. Highly recommended!

Everything about this tour was amazing! Our guide Tania was great, making sure we had the best experience and was always upbeat! Lalo our diver friendly and always there to help us with anything we needed. We were given everything we needed for the day and our day flowed smoothly. 10/10 recommend this tour! The grutas were so beautiful and fun!

The beauty and uniqueness of this place makes it a really special thing to experience. The tour company has thought of everything you need (snacks, water, headlamp, towel, TP!, sunscreen). They make the whole trip so easy for you, so you can relax and enjoy the water. I don’t think I would have been able to navigate and see all this place has to offer without them. Our guide Lalo (Eduardo) was exceptional. He’s funny, genuine, and went above and beyond to make sure we were all happy. He even made an extra stop on the way home and purchased some aftersun care for someone’s sunburn. There were 10 people on our tour, and we got to know and have a good time with everyone. It was a really lovely day!
