Guaranteed Whale Watch in Kona

Excellent experience! Saw lots of whales, the crew took very good care of everyone. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

We went on the morning whale watching encounter yesterday. We did not see a single whale. 2-1/2 hours of boat time. Guess that happens but I wish we would have read the fine print. When we got back we were told that the trip was NOT "guaranteed" if you used Groupon to book the trip. The captain was going to make an exception because her afternoon trip was not booked, and she said she would allow us to go out again (but only that same day). We could not fathom spending another 2-1/2 hours doing the same thing so we declined. Waste of time and money. Wish I would have brought a book...........

The captain and crew were very knowledgeable about marine life. The tour was excellent, in a fun and laidback atmosphere. We saw humpback whale, dolphins and sea turtles.

This crew are amazing they make sure you get to really see the whales and help you find them and get the best picture possible. We had an amazing day on the water and the view was epic. We learned a lot of the whale’s life cycle and was fantastic

Don’t book with Bite Me. They have cancelled twice now, blaming the weather each time. Not so, there were other small boats out everywhere.

After the experience we had with Manta Ray Night Snorkel, I immediately signed my kiddos & myself up for a Whale Watching tour with Ocean Encounters. My little ones L O V E D it. My girl (5) was literally hopping & dancing with delight & my boy (9) was more than happy to swap animal facts with Captain Rory & Taylor. We had yet another magical experience— at least 2 juvenile whales checked out our boat — a sure sign that Ocean Encounters & their crew brings the good aloha spirit. (Rory even snatched up my GoPro —after asking, of course— & got some underwater video!)
A big THANK YOU to Rory and Taylor for their patience with and attention to the littler whale watchers— I know mine will remember it forever!

The most memorable part of this trip was getting soaked. This was a guarantee whale watching tour, Before we left port our tour guide told us that they saw whales to the north earlier that morning. After leaving port we went south. we saw nothing. By the time we turned north it was time to return to port. The guarantee is you get a trip, not that you see a whale. What a bust. Tour guide said sorry about that, sign up again maybe we'll have better luck.

Nice big ship, friendly captain and staff. I totally recomend it. It was nice trip. We were in March, but still saw whale.

I was skeptical about booking since it was the end of the season, but glad I did. We saw pilot and humpback whales. The crew was awesome explaining so many facts. Would absolutely recommend.

We had a great time whale watching with Lena and Rachel. They made the entire trip very fun and exciting and they did a great job driving the boat. They were fun and knowledgeable. Our kids, age 4,7 and 9, all had a great time. We saw tons of dolphins, several whales families and a whale shark made a brief appearance. We got to listen to the whales singing and communicating. The water was crystal clear and the island views were amazing!! We will definitely go again next time we are in Kona and would definitely recommend Ocean encounters.
