Seeing Auschwitz-Birkenau in person is a very moving experience.
Alicja (and Krakow4you) provided us with an opportunity to visit these sites at a time and in a sequence to avoid most of the crowds. Alicja provided a private tour of Birkenau. This allowed us to ask many questions and focus on aspects of the camps that were of most interest to us. She also provided hints as to how best take advantage of the official tour of Auschwitz. She is a wonderful guide!

Our guide, Dariusz, made the trip as informative and as pleasant as it could be. We would recommend him to anyone who wants a full tour of Krakow and Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Our guide had an excellent knowledge of polish history. We could understand complicated circumstances in which Jewish people were placed at that time. So we really appreciated his service.

I cannot recommend the Jewish Quarter and Auschwitz-Birkenau tour with Alicja/Darius enough. Both are incredibly knowledgeable and truly passionate about their city and its history. I learned so much from them on this tour - they were able to fit in a ton of information for the full day tour without making it overwhelming.
Our tour started with a walk around the Jewish Quarter, which provided much of the historical context we needed before we went to the camp. Though that part of the city is much different from what it was in the past, Alicja painted such a vivid picture of the way things were by having us pay special attention to the preserved landmarks or reconstructions that truly brought the city to life. Alicja also pointed out good non-touristy spots & restaurants along our walk, so she gave us lots to do even after our tour ended.
After our tour of the city we began our drive to Oswiecim. Along the way we stopped at a restaurant, giving us time to discuss the prior walk through Krakow and to touch base on the upcoming visit to Auschwitz. Great food, too!
When we arrived at Auschwitz, Darius took us for a drive around the perimeter of the two camps, showing us just how big they are and giving us some context before we toured the interior. Coming in having a better understanding of the magnitude of the operation was incredibly invaluable when we were walking around Birkenau. I am so thankful for the additional context that Alicja and Darius provided to us because it made the tour through the camps that much more powerful and meaningful.
I can't thank them enough! I only wish that we had enough time in Krakow to visit the salt mines. I will definitely seek out their services when I find myself back in the city.

the tour was excellent. It was the third time we visited Auschwitz and Alicja showed us so much that we hadn't seen before. Her knowledge was excellent and she recounted history with a lot of empathy for the victims. If we ever decide to return to Krakow we will definitely book with her again.

Our driver (Darius) emailed us the day before to confirm pick up and arrived exactly on time. We were shown around the Jewish District, drove past the ghetto and Schindler's factory. We then headed out to Auschwitz II Birkenau where Darius personally took us through the camp. We were then driven to Auschwitz I and handed over to a tour group with English speaking headphones. Our guide for this tour group (Suzanne) was brilliant! We personally found Darius very abrupt at times but wonder if this is just the Polish way? It would seem from reading all the reviews that his wife Alicja is excellent so maybe request her for this tour if you get a chance. It takes over an hour to get to the camps. It was a cold day but we found the heating in the car ride there to be quite hot (remember we are from Australia). When we requested that the AC be turned down, we were told that it was already on low and he didn't want to lose is voice?? We had to keep opening the windows to let the cool air in. Other than that, the tour was very good. Incredibly sad what happened but something everyone should see so that it is never forgotten or repeated.

No one can forget the tour through Auschwitz. You can feel the pain and sense the tragedy as you look on the carefully organized photos and the artifacts like glasses and shoes in piles. The gas chambers will never leave my memory.
