We will hop from wine bars to family owned shops, and you will choose several mouthwatering ‘cicchetti’ bites, the traditional snacks, paired together with local wine glasses... and you’ll be in Venetian heaven!
Drink after drink and hopping from city highlights to hidden gems, your cravings for local food and culture will be certainly satisfied.
We promise you will taste the best food in Venice, together with a passionate foodie hosts, wandering around the vibrant San Marco and San Polo districts, ending the food tour with a traditional treat, the ultimate gelato or a traditional venetian cookie.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Chiesa dei Santi Apostoli
We will get pleasantly tipsy with a spritz, the classic Venetian wine based aperitif. You will be able to choose among all the variants which are so popular in all bars here in Venice: the sweeter orange flavoured Aperol, the bitter and stronger one Campari, the intriguing Cynar and the delicate and almost unknown Select. Drink by drink, your local guide share with you some tips and my secret recipe as a Venetian!
2. Casa di Marco Polo
We will pass where, according to tradition, Marco Polo used to live before starting his long journey to China
3. Campo San Bartolomeo
We will stop for a delicious bite in a historical place, serving San Marco workers since the 1930s. This no-frills "rosticceria" has an ultramarine canteen counter downstairs and a small eat-in restaurant upstairs. There you will find arancini (rice balls), deep-fried mozzarella balls, croquettes and fish fry-ups. No one said it was going to be healthy! Let's try a Mozzarella in Carrozza!
4. Ponte di Rialto
We will cross the most famous bridge in Venice, crossing the Canal Grande. the current bridge was built in the 16th century as a replacement of the previous wooden drawbridge
5. Pescheria di Rialto
The market place in Venice is Rialto: its fish market is noisy, raw, authentic and full of true venetian life. Fish is artfully arranged on stalls covered with deep layers of crushed ice, seagulls wander among the fishmongers calling out today's catch, local people purposefully browse the stalls scattered in the two halls of the "Pescheria", as generations of venetians have been doing so in the last 800 years! What a great place to have some fish in a local place!
6. Campo Bella Vienna
We will visit a family owned cheese shop active since 1936 and you may choose to have a tasting of local cheeses such as Asiago, Montasio and Dobbiaco.
7. Campo dei Frari
We cannot have "cicchetti" without an "ombra", in English "shadow" ! "Let’s go to drink a shadow", in Venetian language “Andémo béver un'ombra” is an invitation to go for a drink, and more exactly a small glass of wine (a shadow), which is typically drunk in one shot. The expression is a prompt of the period in which the wine was sold in shaded stands, which were located at the base of the Bell Tower of San Marco; when the sun was rotating, the stands were moved, so they could continue to stay in the shade (ombra)
8. San Polo
It will be time to taste some watermouthering "cichetti", local snacks or side dishes, usually served in traditional "bàcari" (cicchetti bars or osterie). Typical cicchetti include tiny sandwiches, plates of olives or other vegetables, halved hard boiled eggs, small servings of a combination of one or more of seafood, meat and vegetable ingredients laid on top of a slice of bread or polenta, and very small servings of typical full-course plates. Like Spanish tapas, one can also make a meal of cicchetti by ordering multiple plates. Normally not a part of home cooking, the cicchetti’s importance lies not just in the food itself, but also in how, when and where they are eaten: with fingers and toothpicks, usually standing up, hanging around the counter where they are displayed in numerous bars, osterie and bacari that offer them virtually all day long
9. Fondamenta Zattere
"Dulcis in fundo" romans used to to say. And we will do it at the end of our tour with a gelato ice cream. We will choose a traditional ice cream shop, the one preferred by Peggy Guggenheim and, more recently, by Angelina Jolie when shooting her movies in town.

This was a great tour! Our tour guide was Valerio and he was amazing. He texted me in the morning with clear directions of where to meet. He was on time and truly made the most of our three hours. He was informative snd super funny. He made sure to ask us what we liked to eat and even tried to accommodate the picky people. I posted a picture of what my adult kids ate, squid and sardines… yuk, but they loved it. We got to try so many different foods and drinks in far out places in Venice we would have never known about. Definitely take this small intimate tour! You will love it.

I got more than I expected. Valerio was an amazing guide. I chose this tour to see the city and maybe have a snack or two. I left stuffed with food and full of drinks. It was an amazing experience, Valerio was funny and full of great information and we sampled so many good “off the beaten path” snacks!

Genny provided such a wonderful experience. She was super knowledgable about the restaurants/bars and shared some delicious Venetian treats with us. She took us off the main streets and introduced us to a quieter and truely magical side of Venice sharing history of the city and landmarks. And better yet, she was so much fun to be with, it was like meeting a friend in Venice for a tour.

Genny had such an amazing, kind, and laid back energy. We really enjoyed our ten tastings food tour through Venice. Venice is so beautiful and it was great to learn about the history behind some of the landmarks and things you’d never notice on your own just walking through the city. The tour was the perfect blend between delicious food, drinks, and historical landmarks/information. My husband and I both thought the walking to food ratio was great. Everything was timed well, so we didn’t feel heavy and stuffed at the end. Genny was able to answer our questions and give a great tour. She also helped us find some other nice activities later in our trip. You can tell she is very passionate about her city and she loves sharing the culture through both food and history. We would gladly take another tour with Genny and recommend her to anyone who wants to experience the beauty Venice has to offer! xx Thank you Genny!

This was the best way to start our time in Venice. Our tour guide Volario was amazing from pre-trip communication straight to the end of our tour. Everywhere we went was unique and we loved them all. Great way to eat, drink and explore this wonderful city.

We had a wonderful time with Valerio! He was a great tour guide and such a delight to talk to. He really knows Venice and all the best stops. We always felt safe and well cared for. I’m not big on wine or spritz so he got me a beer at every stop.

I can't recommend Genny enough. She took my husband and me on a private food tour and it was our favourite activity on our stay in Venice, without a doubt. She not only showed us fantastic food at all the locals' spots but gave us so much interesting history on the route and helped us with a gondola booking the next day. She is warm and a joy to share company with - everyone seems to know her and comes out to say hi :) Her tour is a true Venetian experience not to be missed!

Genny is personable, knowledgeable & a lot of fun. She guided us around the maze of alleys & courtyards to fabulous tiny bars and cafes. She is a font of historical & current information. A most enjoyable tour taken with an expert guide
