This honestly was the BEST experience in Rio. Rodrigo is AMAZING! If you’re even just a little bit adventurous, this is the perfect outing. If you’re considering booking a different tour or a different guide, DON’T.
Rodrigo texted the day before the hike to introduce himself and provided tips for the day ahead with suggestions of what to wear and what to bring (bug spray, water, snacks, good shoes, etc). He also provided a google maps link to the meeting point which was super helpful since I do not speak Portuguese and could easily show the taxi driver the location without any confusion.
The hike had a mix of walking, scrambling, and some climbing with breathtaking views.
Rodrigo is patient when you want to take photos or breaks, he is professional, very personable and clearly very experienced, helping you on the hard parts (and the easy parts!), guiding you on where to place hands and feet to safely get to the next section. I was a little nervous on one section (heads-up if you’re afraid of heights) but never felt unsafe.
We were lucky enough to get to the top when nobody else was there and had time to take a snack break, take in the mind blowing views and take all of the pictures we wanted before the crowds arrived.
I don’t know how it’s possible to get better views on any other tour. I also doubt there’s a better guide in town!
If you’re up for it, ask him to also show you the view on the other side! It took a little more scrambling and was totally worth it!!
There’s also a gentleman who sells the most amazing frozen fruit drinks halfway up the hike (yes, he carries coolers to keep it all frozen for the day), the perfect little healthy refreshment on your way up/and or down.
On the hike we saw gorgeous toucans, monkeys, lizards, vultures and other big birds at the top.
At the bottom Rodrigo was helpful to provide an internet connection in order to call an uber for the ride back to the hotel.
All in all, I could not have asked for a more perfect day.

Views were amazing and our guide took some great photos. Safety could be a little better (e.g. checking harnesses and ropes are safe and on properly and maybe a little extra guidance for the climbing parts). Overall was a good tour

Obviously a fraud, Tour did not take place and tour guide was not available Until 09:15 am ( Meeting time was 8:00 AM).
Took another tour, Which neither included in English guide nor the GoPro pictures paid for. No one in this group spoke English, There was a severe safety hazard During the tour and we had to wait for more than an hour at different spots just for the group to gather.
Both ViaTor And the guide decided not to refund me at all.
Shame To treat your customers like this.

Lucas was a great guide. He arrived at the meeting point early and sent me a message, which was very considerate. He rented all the equipment in advance, so the group started the hike as soon as the park was open. We were moving up at a very nice pace (it was tough but doable). He assisted us at the bit where the rope climbing was involved very professionally. The view from the top was gorgeous and totally worth all the effort! We got as much time at the top as we wanted to, and Lucas took the pictures of us at the best spots. He was really nice, I absolutely enjoyed the experience! The hike was not easy, but it made it even more fun in retrospect!

The trail was beautiful but the views were breath-taking. Rodrigo made sure we safely climbed the rocks- you definitely need a guide for this trail. Super grateful for the experience!

The most amazing hike I’ve ever done from start to finish. The views are spectacular. Our guide Guia Rodrigo was fantastic so friendly and knowledgeable he took so many beautiful photos/videos of us. 10/10 I would highly recommend this hike and guide Guia 😊

I had a great hiking experience up pedra da gavea led by our friendly and skilled guide Rodrigo (Indio)☺️. Rodrigo managed to motivate me with calm and patience up the climbing area of the mountain despite my intense fear of heights. He also helped us take cool photos and videos of our experience. Great hike and breathtaking views! 100% recommend! 🤩
