We absolutely loved this experience. Our guide’s name was Wester and he was so nice and professional and attentive. He really took care of us! We didn’t book a private tour but we got lucky that we were the only ones on ours. The Mountain View’s were breathtaking, Playa Esmeralda felt like an untouched beach. Wester made sure to get photos for us and really made me feel comfortable. The right along the country side was also beautiful. Highly recommend this tour!

If you are a small group of 4 or less, ask for Alex. We were fortunate to be assigned to Alex as a private tour even though we were expecting to be in a larger group. As we drove to Montana Redonda, Alex shared information about his country, answered our many questions and pointed out interesting sights along the way. He stopped along the way to buy us some cheese he said was the best on the Island, and we all agreed it was the best we had ever eaten, so much that we asked him to stop on our way back so we could buy more. We were fortunate to arrive at the mountain just as a big group was leaving so we had it almost entirely to ourselves. It is such a beautiful place with amazing views. Alex took many amazing photos of us as we enjoyed the view and played around on top of the mountain. He also had a fabulous lunch of fresh fish, chicken, salad and rice waiting for us. This was the absolutely best fish we had the entire time we were in the Domincan Republic - cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed Mama Juana and Domincan Beer. Alex also arranged for men to climb up into the mango trees and cut fresh mangos for us to take with us. Next, he took us to Macao beach. This was a bit disappointing since I went out of my way to choose a tour that went to the Costa Esmeralda but was told it will be closed for many more months as a hotel is being built in that area. I won't hold it against the tour guide but think that Viator should not be selling the version that promises Costa Esmeralda beach until it is open to the public again. Though the beach wasn't very good, we did appreciate how Alex took photos of us and encouraged us to take as much time as we'd like. We finished the tour at a shop he recommended where we found some nice items. All in all, it was a great day and I'd highly recommend booking the Mountain Redonda tour, asking for Alex if you are a small group. I'd skip the beach until Costa Esmeralda beach reopens but the mountain is well worth the price and time.

I’m writing this review with heavy heart as the driver is a cool guy and I don’t want him to get into trouble.

We got picked up in a 4 seater car and on the way we were told that 2 others will be picked up. Super unsafe for the lack of 5 seatbelts / headrests.

After the pickup halfway towards the Mountain passing an intersection we were told that we’d go return here to Macao beach. I took a mental note to ask about this.

The mountain experience started great we got there ahead of the crowds and had a great time and the mountain top for the 4 of us. The 10:30 prawns with rice was a bit oddly timed but tasted great. Unfortunately we weren’t informed how long we had, how much we had to wait for the transfer back down. The driver chatted to the Spanish couple in Spanish and we felt we were missing out not only in conversation but information too.

During the wait for the transfer I asked why we’re not going to Esmeralda beach and I was told it was because of the weather. I was sure the Macao beach would be just as nice.

Unfortunately during the way back we hit a dog with the car and got stopped by the police. Macao beach was all right (not counting the 1$ toilet and the pushy sellers) but we only had 40 minutes there.

We were rushed out of the water and got back into a car to go to the worst souvenir shop in PC. Terrible quality, expensive prices, pushy staff.

So #2 of the 2 things to do was completely different. No going through a forest, no impressive views, no ranch, no refreshments, no coconut water and definitely no comforting moment with music and drinks.

At this moment I’m trying to get a refund for more than 20% as half of the trip was completely bad.

I’m sure that one travel agent is giving the job to another and then to a third one and they just combined 2 groups with different bookings here.

Went up to the redonda mountain Wich had a great view. The food we got up there was really good. We had some great pictures there and after this we went to Macao beach there we went bathing with the waves massaging our backs.

The guide Alex and driver Christopher were great and really gave the little bit extra to the trip.

Our driver, Alex, who was taking us to the Montana Redonda (round mountain) called to tell me he would pick us up at 7:30 a.m. After yesterday’s tour, I was glad to have the number of the driver. When he arrived, we found that we were the only ones that were on the tour with him that day. He played American music by Celine Dion, Phil Collins, John Lennon and Eric Clapton. It was about a 50 minute drive to get there. Once there, we had to board a 4-wheel drive dually with seats in the back. It was a very rough ride. My husband stood up and held on the whole time so it wouldn’t hurt his back. About halfway up the mountain, we met other vehicles coming back down the mountain, so we had to back up to let them pass. Once passed, we tried to make it up the mountain again, and the tires started spinning on a wet area. I thought we were going to have to get out and push. Finally, we gained some traction and were able to get going again. Once at the top, Alex took our pictures as we did the swing, brooms, and hammock. We had lunch of chicken, rice and grouper fish. The grouper fish didn’t have a fishy taste and was really good. Coming back down the mountain was a little better, but it was still a rough ride. Next Alex took us to Maaco Beach which was a public beach with huge waves. There were a few surfers, but didn’t see anyone who was too successful at it. After about an hour, we left the beach and headed back to our hotel.

The mountain views and swings were great, but a long process to get there and very slow. Our tour pick up Alex was nice, but instead of a tour pick up time between 7-8am we were told pick up would be at 10:30am the day before the tour. It ended up being 11am. One couple was already in the van and then we went to another hotel to pick up one more family. It took about 20 minutes of talking to security for Alex to get his car through to the last hotel pick up. Then we waited another half hour as the family had requested a private tour and many phone calls later we finally took off without them. What seemed like more than an 1.5 hours since we left Bavaro we finally got to the mountain parking. Then more waiting and getting on an open air truck with many others for a bumpy ride to the top of the mountain. People joined our bus from various other tour buses. We took our time taking photos and surprisingly there was 'lunch' for us? However, for vegetarians all that was available was fruit and french fries upon request. Much of it was meat and seafood focused. This is definitely not a 4-5 hour tour. We spent about 6 hours on this. Tiring day of waiting and long rides, but nice views.
