Great tour. Drive through beautiful countryside on way to all destinations. The ruins of St Kevin’s monastic city & the gravestones were quite fascinating. Kilkenny is a very charming town & the castle is a must see. You seemingly have lots of time here, but to see the castle & to spend some time in the town, don’t take a lot of time for a sit down lunch as we did, in an excellent & charming restaurant, The Left Bank, only because it took more time than we would have liked, rather than have more time for town exploration.

The day was fabulous with lots of time to see the sights. Our friver/guide was excellent and gave excellent suggestions. I'd highly recommend this tour.

We had No contact from the tour group Hill Top Treks I called the night before leaving and they said that it was cancelled. Not enough people. They claimed they did not have my info to contact us but I’m sure they could have notified trip advisors! Almost ruined our trip. Fortunately we booked through Viator, Wild Rover group and had a great day! Do not book any trips through Hill Top Treks!!

Loved Kilkenny Castle — would have liked more time to explore the town. Glendalough was beautiful and we enjoyed our gentle hike. Our driver was friendly and accommodating.

Too much driving. Not enough walking/sight seeing.
Guide was not engaged. Seemed like he just wanted to get home.

Our day trip was wonderful. We had only ten in our group and enjoyed walking around Glendalough and Kilkenny at our own pace. The scenery was beautiful, along winding roads through the mountains and sheep country. Richard was a lovely guide, very funny and knowledgeable of the area. We recommend booking a tour with HilltopTreks.

Our tour was lovely. It was nice having just a small group along the way. Richard was very friendly and funny and knowledgeable of the area. The van was comfortable and the drive between the sites was scenic and informative. We had freedom to explore at each site at our leisure and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Took our 9&11 yo kids on this tour. Enjoyed the change of pace from the city and the local knowledge about the estates and towns along the way. Powerscourt was gorgeous and all the bulbs were in full bloom. The cherry blossoms in the Japanese garden were lovely! I’m sure the main Italian garden is amazing in the summer. The walking was easy (with one steeper incline) but very enjoyable. The lunch at Poppies was delicious (shepherds pie for the meat eater and falafel/Mac n cheese/baked potato/soup for the vegetarians). Jillian drove us around and stopped at lookout points to appreciate the scope and spread of the Irish countryside. We made the trek to Glendalough and preferred the path along the north side of the lower lake which is almost exclusively boardwalk built above the marsh. Most people take the green road which is quicker but more crowded. Would recommend!

From booking process to drop-off, the experience with HilltopTrecks went smoothly. Tour was as expected: quite a bit of driving though our driver (Richard) was responsive and courteous, and provided history and context to the sites/sights we visited.
I enjoyed the opportunity to walk at my own pace and tour independently from the group.

We had a great time. The guide was very friendly. Kilkenny Castle was impressive- guided tour is worth it. We were only 6 people almost as a personal tour. Glendalough is a nice walk, nothing we haven’t seen but it was relaxing after the castle so we had a nice day.
