This tour was not great. The bus arrived too late at the top for any stargazing and then didn't stay long enough to fully enjoy the sunrise. It was barely up in the sky and we had to go. I also didn't have enough time to get a shirt from the souvenir shop. Too late for the full experience, too rushed, too much money for a quick site of the sunrise and a decent breakfast. If you like tours and not moving at your own pace you may like this but as a family we thought it could have been done better for the cost. Give your people more time to do what they came to see. If they are done looking at the sunrise or are cold let them in the van, but for those of us that came with warm clothes, we should have more than 30 minutes to witness the beginning of the day. Honestly we should have been there for 2 hrs total. All told we were there from 5:15-6:10 (Sunrise 5:37am) but at the restaurant from 8:30-9:45. That seems a bit unbalanced. We will not recommend this to a friend. You can register for $1 for a reservation 60 days prior if you are comfortable driving up a mountain. I was extremely disappointed to learn this too late and then didn't have any other option but this tour.

Wish I had taken the advice to layer warmly more seriously. But the view and sunrise was so breathtaking, I took my mind off the cold start to the morning.

It was truly an amazing experience and I would count the view and the moment the sun rose as a top 10 experience of my entire life.
There are just a couple of things that would've made the trip better - 1, our tour got there a few minutes after some of the others and I think if we left just a little sooner (2 groups left my hotel prior to our bus getting there), we could've gotten a better spot for viewing. This is nitpicky, of course.
2, our guide was certainly nice enough, but sometimes his voice was so monotonous that it was difficult to stay awake or focus on what he was trying to tell us.

The Haleakala Sunrise Tour was stunning. Our pick-up was at 2 AM, and it was truly worth it to see the sunrise in this stunning National Park. There was almost a reverence as the sun came up over the horizon.
Our tour guide, Trevor was excellent. He has actively sought out information and tour guide techniques to make the experience meaningful. He knows so much about Maui and Hawaii. He made everyone feel welcome, valued, and safe. Yes, you can DIY this tour, but the information and insights you gain from having an experienced tour guide are unmatched. Additionally, reservations are required to get to the summit and the roads are narrow. I was happy to leave the driving to someone else and take in the experience.

Initial booking and communication process was good. Then came the day of the adventure. Waited for an hour starting at 230am. No pickup and no way to communicate with the operator. Very very disappointed. Looks like an ongoing issue now. After lot of research we choose this operator but now I am working to get a refund.

They are scammers! They never came to pick us up, we stayed waiting at the pick-up point for more than an hour. They didn't answer any of our calls! They were supposed to pick us up at 2:30 am, we were waiting from 2:15 am to 3:15 and they never showed up. I have a huge disappointment!! We missed seeing the sunrise on the Maui volcano!! I want my money back!
I had my cell phone on and with me the entire time. They were not able to warn us, they left us standing on the street in the middle of the morning. a disaster, terrible service!

Good tour guide, food was great, beautiful location. Would have been nice to have a bus with a heater as the summit was so cold.

Waited out at 2am and the guide never showed up! Waited for over an hour. Thankfully got a full refund after a lot of back and forth with Viator. Definitely would not recommend!
