Our guides in Spain and Morocco were wonderful! They looked out for us, had so much knowledge and information they shared with us and we felt that they showed us the real highlights of both Spain and Morocco. There were so many highlights, I can't even choose just one, Ronda was amazing, Seville so beautiful, Morocco was another world! Both countries were fantastic, and the people, food and entertainment were top notch! I'd recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see both of these beautiful countries, we are so glad we went!

The crossing into Morocco and back were long days however, a little cumbersome and exhausting to drive 1 1/2 hours to the ferry at such an early hour - a closer hotel on the Spain side would have been helpful or an overnight in Tangier beforehand would have worked.

We enjoyed Spain and our Spanish guides. The hotel and buffet in Costel del Sol were disappointing. Supposedly, the tour buys the cheapest rooms so plan on an outlook over the garbage and no air conditioning in May. The lines were so long at the buffet that we never got an entree. Plus the tour is dual language but you may find that you are the only English speakers.

Morroco was very interesting but our main guide was not very interested in guiding. You'll see all the designated sites but no extra information about the country or culture.

To start with I received very little information from the Julia help desk in Courtyard Marriot Princessa in Madrid. First tour I was picked up on time and given a fair tour in Madrid, tour was in Spanish/English equates to 70 percent Spanish / 30 percent English after tour were taken to bus station and told return to hotel was on our own, sure would have been nice to know ahead of time.Tours between Spain and Costa del Sol were average, at times it felt like Spanish was more spoken the English. Tours in Morroco were given by another tour group that works with Julia. These tour were outstnding and groups were split into English / spanish speaking groups. Upon returning to Cost Del Sol we were again with Julia. Travel guide made a much better effort here. Stopped for tour in Granada and was assigned to local guide who missed tour time on ticket completely and we never got to tour the palace! Bottom line, had
very little information, poor translation during tours, and in general wouldn't recommend
this group for English speakers, Also there are many other groups to use for this tour.

We are two women (myself and my mum with my two very small kids, one was 5 months when we started the tour) they made us book two rooms even though my son is only 3 and the other is quite literally a newborn and could sleep anywhere, ofcourse we paid an arm and leg for absolutely no reason, we actually ended up sleeping together and keeping all luggage in another room. The tours in the cities were ridiculously rushed we didn’t have time to take photos it was all go go go go. Then we went to morroco which was an absolute nightmare esp with children. We had to wake up at 6, we got to the ferry at 10am, got to morroco at 12, and then they drove us from the port to the city we were staying in that night (fez) which was a 9 hour drive, during which they took us to a restaurant for lunch that was disgusting inedible and just down right filthy purely because they have a contract with them. The hotel in fez (Ramada) was disgusting, dingy, old and we had chosen the more expensive package which is supposed to put us in better accommodations. The drive in morroco was at least 6 hours from one spot to another, the tours and the guides were horrible, the food, the pace in which we had to do things was just exhausting. We come to Granada, to be told we can’t take prams in al hamra, so we had to carry two very tired and hot kids in and around for 3 hours without any help from Marco our very rude guide who yelled at my mum “were waiting!” When she wasn’t sure if she would continue the tour or not with them (if al hamra was not accomodating for kids Julia travel should have told us before we booked and now knowing that they are not accomodating for kids then why not tell us?!!!) When we got picked up in costa del sol we were thrust into a bus of 44 absolutely no space to breathe or move making it impossible with two small kids. Why? Can’t they spare another bus?? And every single hotel we stayed in at check in we had to be the last to go because our rooms were never next to each other, on several occasions we were put on different levels it was only when I would ask to be put together that they would move us. I know Julia travel will say that a lot of this is out of their hands but that is not true. They could have made sure our rooms were together prior to check in; they could have told us this tour isn’t suitable for kids instead of ripping us off just to take out money, they could have made sure to put us in better hotels, better restaurants, they could have told us prior to booking that the distances in morroco were painful and long and so tiring. I am so disappointed I feel so ripped off, so cheated. Do not book with Julia travel, if u really want to see Andalucia go with a private tour, this company is absolutely rubbish.

Good tour. The guides with Julia during the travels in Spain Ishmael and Ellie were the some of the best guides I've had anywhere in the world. Hotels were nice as well. There's a lot to try to pack in 12 days but I wish we'd stay longer in Granada and maybe a little less time in Morocco. Also maybe spend time in Malaga instead of some touristy resort town like Torremolinos because there is zero culture or anything interesting there. These tour groups have a lot of older people on them so get ready to move slowly and be held up for a bit.

Viator did not do a good job to ensure julia address the travel issues we encountered. We spent an entire day on the boat ride back to Spain due to poor planning. In addition, the hotel we stayed at had poor and broken services.

Overall the trip was worthwhile and a pleasurable trip. The trip was taken in October, 2016. I waited to digest it completely before writing the review in an effort to be as impartial as possible. Loved both legs of the tour specially Morocco. We were lucky as most of the time on this tour the weather was gorgeous and cooperative. I love history and had been looking for a trip covering, southern Spain, Strait of Gibraltar and Morocco. As I said in the beginning, the overall trip was worthwhile, however, there were couple of Big personal disappointments as well. Otherwise, I would have given Five Stars. Once on the bus, I realized most of the tourist were from countries who spoke Spanish or Portuguese. Thus, they were or became primary focus group for the tour guide.

The detailed tour of Alhambra I had been waiting for the longest time and looking forward the most during Spanish lag of the tour, unfortunately, it was not covered the way it was supposed to as many historical and important sites were missed. A huge personal disappointment. By the way, it was just not us but it was felt by many other tourists who shared it with us. I conveyed my disappointment via customer survey provided on board by Julia Travels who was responsible for the Spanish lag of our tour.

The things enjoyed the most.

The weather for the most part on both legs of the tour was very good

Since it was a compact tour, covering many parts of two different countries and cultures, one could only get so much in little time. yet, it gave us good glimpse to many historical and other famous places between the two countries, Spain and Morocco.

Few Recommendations

1- Viator should try to arrange separate tours for English speaking tourists so they can get the most out of these tours as in most cases these are, once in a life time opportunities. If due to certain constraints it is not possible, where possible, arrange a local English speaking tour guide with a clear accent and good command on English. With a diversified group of people coming from many different countries, cultures and beliefs, a tour guide can not and should not narrate his/her or certain version of the history. If historical facts are not clear or controversial, the tour guide should just provide references according to multiple known historians with different point of views and leave the digging up to the tourist.

2- Again, I recommend for future tours, Viator make sure at least all the well known historical places and monuments are covered in such a way where tourists feel fulfilled the most. I realize, on these compact tours time becomes very valuable. I think at certain historical sites, the touring party can be divided into smaller units based upon their interests and be sent with local guides to cover the sites they are interested the most.

3- Arrange porters at the port of Tangier for luggage transfer.

Tips for the Tourists

Do a bit of research before taking a particular trip. Be mentally and physically prepared for the days you will spent on the tour.

This tour was well organised and the places included were all of great interest. We had not been to Spain or Morocco

before and were delighted in every place we went to. Highlights were the mosque/church in Córdoba, the medina in Fes and Alhambra in Grenada. Grace, our guide in Spain was very good for morale and very experienced in handling a large group of diverse people. Our guide in Morocco was helpful at all times. Morocco was much more developed than we expected, but we were taken to lots of 'old Morocco'. The accommodation was all very good. There are always 'little things' that could go better, but part of travel is coping with those. It would be good if the tour left from a central hotel rather than the bus parking area which is difficult to find, but I think it is a Madrid regulation that makes this impossible. We recommend this tour. If it's you ur first in Spain and Morocco it is a very pleasant introduction.

Marrocos Agency Mundi Marroc excellent hotels/ good food/ good service. Problem w/audio in the bus we could not hear the guide/

lack of wifi

Spain Agency Julia Travel Seville - Melia Libreros - excellent food/ excellent hotel - highly recommended

Torremolinos Don marco Resort/ Don Pedro Resort Very poor choice for winter. Nothing to do/ sub standard room/ not elevator to get to the rooms/ no porter/ guide and bus driver left us in the road with luggage to find the hotel, very unprofessional. Our suggestion for the future in winter time _ MALAGA more things to see historic sites, beautiful city

ALHAMBRA - we got frustrated because the ticket for entrance admission did not cover the principal part residential quarter of the palace, the bathhouses, palace of lions.

for entrance admission did not cover the residential quarter, the bathhouses, palace of Lions.

We enjoyed this trip with the exception of the guides who were spending more time in the Spanish translations than English. I can understand some Spanish so I was able to get more information than the others who can only understand English. Overall, it was a good itinerary.
