Shout out to Mark, Shea, and Jordan! Great crew. We had a fabulous time on this tour and highly recommend them. Seeing the manta rays up close and personal was truly magnificent. It was like a beautiful ballet in the ocean. The smaller size group of 12 people was perfect and we really liked the very quick ride out into the bay in the zodiac style boat. Our 9 pm tour started 30 minutes late but it was worth the wait. Wetsuits were $10 each so we opted out and were fine with our swimduits and rashguards. We would definitely book with Hawaii Island Ocean/Kona Snorkel Tours again!

Do not purchase a phone protection bag from this vendor. He recommended it and he himself put it on my cell phone.
This ruined my phone and this was day 1 of our trip. Also, this guy operates out of a van, no changing rooms.

This was my second time experiencing the Manta Ray snorkel with this company. I trust them and enjoy the smaller tour size. We swam with 5 mantas and thoroughly enjoyed our time. I took two people who had never been before and they said the experience was once in a life time!
I will say, one of my friends has motion sickness and while he made it through the snorkel and truly enjoyed himself, he struggled recovering for the very short boat ride and ocean movement. Just a heads up for those wanting to participate who also have motion sickness!

Pros: An incredible must-do Kona activity! We saw at least 3 different mantas during our time in the water and they came sooo close!
Cons: The tour operators did end our time in the water 10 minutes early (they said 30 minutes in the water and after 20 said it’s time to get back in the boat). Perhaps it was 30 minutes by the time the final person was back in the boat, but since they said the board must be in one spot for a bit for plankton to accumulate and mantas to come, it’s less likely to see one while the board is moving back to the boat and people are getting in an out. Also, they charged $10 per person for wetsuits, which was an additional charge that was not clear from the website.

My partner and I were booked in for the Manta Ray snorkel on the 13th May. We arrived, were in our life jackets and ready to go when the captain called and said there was issues with the boat and it wasn’t safe to take the tour.
We were told we would be refunded, as could not reschedule (we were leaving Hawaii). We still haven’t been refunded! It has now been nearly 3 weeks, we have had terrible communication with the company, they aren’t returning our calls or emails and still haven’t received our money back (and it’s expensive!!).
I would 100% go elsewhere in case you end up in the same situation.

It was ok; not as spectacular as what the other reviews state. There are so many other companies doing this and you are all out in the water together; shop around for the best deal…

We were entertained by 5-6 Manta's, and they came sooo close!! Such beautiful creatures! Captain Troy, Shay, and Jordan were friendly and informative and made it a fun excursion.
When visiting The Big Island you should definitely do this!!

The experience was really good. But the owner was very rude on phone and while checking us in. We also had to wait for 30 mins before getting in the water because the other group was late.

We have to be honest…we were a little concerned initially when it said to meet a “white van on the side of the street” and we did not get wet suits even though every other group did. (I should have asked for it) However, we only had a 3 minute boat ride out to the sight. We were on the 7:40pm trip and I have to say….it did NOT disappoint! What an absolutely incredible show the manta rays put on for us. They were swimming SO close and brushed up against us more times than I could count. The guides were helpful, very knowledgable and it was just one of the greatest experiences ever. Would highly recommend this tour and the staff!

An unforgettable experience! Crew was knowledgeable and super helpful. Saw several mantas. A tip- read all instructions before you go… must be able to follow the captain’s instructions, swim, and get in and out of the boat.
