We’ll start our day off in bustling Corona Plaza, in the shadow of the elevated tracks of the 7 train, for a visit to a family-run Mexican bakery and, not far away, a taste of handmade tortillas and, on the weekends, pit-roasted goat. Also near the plaza, we’ll stop into a small bakery and café, owned by an immigrant who got his start toiling in the back kitchens of Manhattan restaurants, for a traditional cemita, the behemoth sandwich that’s the pride and joy of Puebla, Mexico. From there our walk will continue along Roosevelt Avenue, the area’s main artery and Queens’s own version of the Pan-American Highway, ducking into markets and stopping by vendors representing Mexico, Ecuador and Argentina. On a side street, we’ll drop by a Colombian “fast food” joint for that country’s almost surreal take on the New York hot dog, with topping options that include cheese, ham, bacon, eggs, pineapple and crushed potato chips. We’ll end our Queens food tour at a neighborhood café.

We had an amazing time. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and a native to the streets we were touring. The food was great. I can't wait to plan the next trip.

Had high expectations after seeing all the amazing reviews, but Esneider managed to exceed them nonetheless! Beyond the food (which was all amazing by the way), the cultural and historical context added so much depth to each stop. I'll be looking to book one of the other Queens food tours next time I'm in town.

We’re New Yorkers and this was truly an incredible experience. First, we had a fantastic guide in Esneider. He knew Queens, the people, the places, the history, etc. like the back of his hand. He had incredible stories and provided an intellectually stimulating backdrop of the various cultures in Queens. Second, the food was absolutely fantastic. This tour unlocked so many new dishes (up until now been doing too many gringo and gora orders). We had food from over 10 different countries - and we enjoyed every minute… we were so full! This tour rivals the Istanbul tour as one of our favorite culinary backstreet experiences. We will be back for the other versions offered in Queens soon!

We loved our tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. He shared a lot of information about the history of the neighborhoods we visited along with the foods we tasted. We went to many restaurants and sampled a wide variety of foods. We recommend this tour without qualification or reservation. It was a ton of fun.

This is our 4th Culinary Backstreets tour. We have taken 30+ food tours and cooking classes around the world. CB is by far best in class. Sierra was our guide and provided an energetic and colorful description of an area of Queens filled with a diverse culture in a very small geographic area. Sierra is a chef and provided great insight into the dozen different stops during our all day tour. I would not hesitate to take a CB tour in any city where it is offered.

This was our 2nd food tour with Culinary Backstreets, and both were amazing. We love the company's focus on culture, history, food advocacy, and hiring the best guides. Esneider was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable on many fronts, not just about food. The tour was also fascinating as we walked through a world's worth of cultures in a few short hours. I want to experience every tour this company has to offer!

We had a fantastic food and culture walking tour with Sierra, who was an excellent guide - informative, fun and passionate about food and culture. We sampled delicious food and drinks from Mexico, Ecuador, Columbia, Pakistan, India and Nepal while exploring Queens. This tour was definitely the highlight of our trip to New York City and would highly recommend doing this tour and seeing more than just Manhattan.

This tour was so much more than I expected: Sierra introduced us to the tastes and cultures of the world in these few square miles of Queens.
We learned so much about the people who settled here and brought their fabulous cuisine with them, we got to meet makers and taste delicious food. Sierra was an inspirational tour guide!
I loved this experience with Culinary Backstreets and have booked the Los Angeles tour too.
Can’t recommend Sierra highly enough as a tour guide: thank you!

This is a must if you are a foodie. The culture and food was amazing. Our tour guide Esneider was amazing. Being orginally from Columbia he seemed to know everyone in the neighborhoods. The food was great and there was lots of it. Walking around each neighborhood with Esneider was so much fun.
