On this food tour in Mexico City, we’ll be exploring the district’s deep tracks – with an emphasis on the out-of-the-way food spots. We’ll start the day off by visiting two neighborhood breakfast institutions. As we work our way through the bustling Centro’s cobblestoned streets, we’ll also stop by several beloved food stands, from one serving the area’s best carnitas to another that sells escamocho, a tropical fruit cocktail like no other. We’ll duck into a side alley for homey enchiladas at a workers’ lunch spot and explore the edible offerings at a 1930s-era covered market that is also home to a stunning display of public art. There will be a stop for a bite and a drink with the regulars at a neighborhood cantina that remains unchanged from when it first opened 100 years ago and then, to end the day, a sit down at another classic cantina for a meal of botanas, hearty home-style dishes that redefine upwards the concept of “bar snacks.”

Liz took us on a complete tour of centro historico. She not only covered a wide range of food styles and options but also provided a historical and social perspective which was both informative and entertaining. Liz is passionate about street food and her enthusiasm is contagious. A great day out.

We had a wonderful day with our guide, Liz. She gave us so much history about the area we were in and all the food we tasted was delicious. This was our 2nd food tour with BSC and we will be doing more as we travel to different cities.

We had a total blast on this food tour. Liz, our guide, is a marvel of local insight and appreciation, food fondness, art history expert and most of all, a whole lot of fun to hang out with. She took us on a dizzying tour of incredible food. Dishes at tiny “locals only” places we would never have tried without her. She also took us to see fabulous buildings and hidden art gems. In fact, by the time we were done, I swear I was “high”. High on life! On an unbelievable experience! High, as in so incredibly happy I got to do this food tour, see this stunning architecture and art and wow! If you’re heading to MDX and eat food, this tour can not be beat!

This was a great tour right from the start. Our tour guide Nacho was so knowledgeable and personable. The tour was very long but you didn't really feel it because of the frequent food stops. There were 4 in out group and we had more than enough food at each stop. In addition to his knowledge of the food he was a walking encyclopedia regarding the history and culture of the city and it's people.
I highly recommend this tour. The only thing you'll need is your appetite and a great pai of walking shoes! I tried adding pics but couldn't 🤔

It was a great experience and we had a lot of fun with Anna. There was both learning and eating in terms of history and some secret spots that we never would have seen if we didn’t do the tour. I do wish that there were more people on the tour because I alway have fun meeting strangers. When I come back I would definitely try one of the other 3 tours to enhance my knowledge of Mexico City!

Ana was a great guide. We ate amazing food I wouldn’t have otherwise. The enchiladas is some of the best food we ate on the entire trip.

Liz was great and we learned a lot about the evolution of Mexican cuisine. We also really enjoyed visiting smaller vendors and places that we would never had visited otherwise. Especially enjoyed seeing and discussing the murals tucked away above the market.
