This diversity is perhaps best represented through Flushing’s stellar food scene. On this walk through the neighborhood, we’ll explore the area’s almost mind-blowing culinary diversity while also learning about Flushing’s fascinating history. We’ll visit vendors, the outdoor stands of local restaurants and some of Flushing’s mall-based food courts – considered by locals to have some of the area’s best eats – tasting delicacies from China, Korea, Vietnam and other countries. From stalls selling Hong Kong-style dim sum and snacks to bakeries turning out the Korean take on French pastries and a visit to a local kimchi maker, we’ll dive deep into the best that the neighborhood has to offer. On our Flushing food tour, we’ll take a look at some of area’s unique cultural markers, from a storefront Daoist temple to the Flushing Quaker Meeting House, built in 1694 – a testament to the important role the area, originally a Dutch settlement, has played in the history of New York.

The tour was awesome. Esneider was a great tour guide who was super personable, fun, and a great story teller. My friends and I had a great time bonding with him and chatting about all of our interests. I recommend this to everyone who loves food and history.

Had a wonderful time exploring Queens' Chinatown with my two adult children and our thoughtful, knowledgeable, interesting guide, Sierra. This tour is the real deal. Sierra is a professional chef and history buff. They have such a breadth of knowledge about the neighborhood we were exploring - we learned so much! Sierra has done the work and anyone lucky enough to experience this tour will benefit. The food was fantastic, and Sierra combines each tasting with a little history lesson that enhances the fabulous food and brought us a true appreciation for this special neighborhood in New York. The pace of the tour is perfect, delicious tastings interspersed with fun walks down streets we never would have found on our own. We left with full bellies and happy hearts thanks to Sierra and their exceptional tour. Thank you Sierra!

We had an amazing time walking around Flushing, guided by Esneider. He was of course knowledgeable about everything we ate and saw, but was also just a wonderful person to talk to. The food was amazing, the company better. Thanks for making my 26th birthday an excellent one!

For 'real' foodies who are looking for a food tour in NYC, those of Culinary Backstreets are the ones you want to do. Queens is a borough to be discovered, and the tour guides are among the most knowledgeable you can get. You will not be disappointed.

This was my 8th tour with Culinary Backstreets and they didn’t disappoint! Sierra was our guide. They were super knowledgeable about the neighborhood and the food and incredibly friendly and accommodating. So much great Chinese food; veg, non-veg, Taiwanese, Uyghur, Hong Kongese. You won’t leave hungry. I also appreciated the non-culinary history covered.

Sierra was an incredible tour guide!! We made the most of the tour in the pouring rain, and we were able to experience both the breadth of food and the vibrancy of the Queens community even in the rain. There was SO MUCH delicious food!! Also, it was great that everyone's dietary preferences were accounted for without changing the experience for people without any restrictions. It was a really fun and memorable day, and we can't wait to do another tour with Culinary Backstreets/Sierra!!

Sierra was our tour guide and doesn’t almost 6 hours giving our family of 5 (3 kids at ages 9,12, and 14) a unique, tasty experience. My kids were sad it was finished. We love Asian food and tasted both new types of food and some of our favorites. There was a perfect amount of waking and sitting throughout the day and Sierra accommodated whatever we needed. Their knowledge and expertise of both the cuisine and culture of China, Taiwan, and Flushimg itself was amazing. We would do this again.

Sierra was our guide and they were amazing. We had a 9 yo boy, 12 yo boy with ADHD, and 14 yo girl and she kept them all engaged and excited about food. We had plenty of food, and there was a good mix of walking and sitting. The food was amazing and showed a diverse array of regions and types of cuisine. We also learned a lot of history about Flushing. We would definitely do another tour with Sierra or Culinary Backstreets.
