Ever interested in how people survive and live their life in slums? This walk is organised by Pete For India Travel to support a sister concern NGO and registered non-profit organization called PETE India (Providing Education to Everyone).80% of the proceeds go to support our projects. Participants will accompany a guide through the maze of small streets and alleys slum in West Delhi for 2 hours. He will show you how millions of people live their lives in the slums of Delhi each day. While in the slum, you'll have the opportunity (if you wish) to have traditional tea with a family during which they can share their personal story of survival and life in the slums. You will visit the 5 Centres that Money from the tour directly support and meet the students and teachers. The aim of this walk is not to "visit" or make poverty a "tourist attraction", but is to exchange experiences with people, allowing the locals a rare opportunity to interact with foreigners if they wish.

Our guide, Sunny, was so friendly and knowledgeable as he showed us around his own community and shared about his life living in the Sangam Colony. I was concerned our presence may be intrusive, but felt very welcomed by the residents and the children getting heaps of handshakes and smiles and felt very safe the entire time. An unforgettable experience for all the right reasons!

This was an absolute highlight of our 2 week Indian trip. We felt safe and comfortable and all the people and happy faces we met was such a joy. I loved the railway walk and the seeing the kids playing cricket on active tracks and the trains going past. Thoroughly recommend this tour and any opportunity to help these amazing humans who live in the communities.

A group of us just completed the small group Delhi slum walking tour and it was the most amazing experience. Our guide Sunny was delightful and knowledgeable being a local to the area, the people and especially the children within the community were so inviting and full of joy, it made the whole journey a memory we’ll never forget, thank you for such a wonderful time, thoroughly recommend it as a must do.

My partner and I went on this tour, to get a deeper understanding of what poverty looks and feels like. This tour allowed us to connect with people who are living a life so incredibly different from ours, and to learn from each other. The tour was pretty different from our expectations, since we were a little unsure at first what it would be like, in the end we were so glad we went.
We met the kids that our tour guide, Sunny, tutors as a part of a separate NGO. They had 100 questions for us, about how we live, what inspires us and what education is like in the west. Even got us to dance with them. They were amazing! And Sunny was too.
We also saw people using rubbish and cardboard to make recycled items, like pillows or decorations, which they sell at their local market.
This tour really put things in perspective for us and gave us the opportunity to see a glimpse of how millions of people live each day.
It was honestly the highlight of our trip to Delhi. I couldn't recommend it more.

Absolutely do this. I spent three weeks in India and this was a highlight. Your western values may make you think this is the wrong thing to do. It is not! These tours are run by a non corrupt NGO in Delhi. They need your help and use these tours to educate and finance education for the young. Not just book learning and school like you imagine it but the dissemination of skills that you would take for granted or have no need for. The will take you to see the real deal. People with nothing. You should see it. These people will not resent you and they don't want your pity. They are proud and were just as interested in me as I was in them. Not that I am ignorant but I learned the true sense of karma during my few hours with these people. They are absolutely no different than you are I but are simply unfortunate. Learn from them and help them at the same time. I am a bit time traveler and this was one of the best experiences I have had ever.

We actually did three tours with PETE led ably by Bheem and assisted by his friend Ashwani: the Slum Walk, the Old Delhi tour, and an experience with locals for Holi. The Slum walk was interesting -- Bheem leads a personal and sincere tour through the slum. It was cool to go with a local on a tour of Old Delhi because they know all the best places to sample food, and the coolest lookouts. Our Holi experience was very cool -- authentic as we actually went to a local house and had a chance to "play Holi" from the rooftops. It was an authentic experience that one could not get any other way. Thank you Bheem and Ashwani!!!

We went on the tour today. What a fantastic experience. We were aware the tour wasn't in our natural environment, but with our guide we felt safe throughout the tour. We were able to get a rare glimpse into what seems to be inherently Indian, very rough and life affirming at the same time. Life isn't easy, but there's hope. Thanks for letting us experience this.
