Absolutely brilliant tour and would recommend to anyone.
Andres was such a good host and couldn’t do enough for us. He was fully flexible and was open to various other stops along the route so we got to see some “off the beaten track” sights as well as what was planned.
We never felt rushed at any stop and he was more than happy to take pictures for us, or leave us to do our own thing.
I had messaged Andres prior to the trip as I was planning on proposing to my partner and he was so helpful, giving ideas to make it exactly what I had wanted and it made the trip so special.
If we return to Iceland, we will 100% be booking again with him!

This is the way to see Iceland-- with a private guide. And Andres the owner of Mercury Grail is just a great guide, and reasonably priced too! We spent -on and off - 5 days with him. He took us back and forth to the airport. He took us on a full day's trip to the South Coast and another full day trip along the Golden Circle. We also did a night tour searching for the Northern Lights. What we wanted to see and how long we stayed at each sight was totally up to us. You need to stop at a bathroom? No problem, Andres knew them all, and Iceland has the cleanest bathrooms we have ever seen. And we have seen a lot of them in our world travels! As two senior citizens from America spending our first time in Iceland we felt so protected and cared for by Andres. Don't be concerned by some of his use of English in his written review responses. His speaking English is fine. Andres and Mercury Grail are a great choice for seeing Iceland.

We fell in love with Iceland! This was in fact due to Andres ~ Mercury Grail! We were taken for a full day to the South Coast ~Seljalandsfoss & Skogafoss ,Vik, Reynisdrangar , Reynisfjara and lunch at Black Beach Restaurant...all the while taking pictures of us and telling us the wonderful history of the area. So that our day would end on a perfect note went back to Skogafoss to see the rainbows that had appeared once the sun came out! Wow! Our second day was carefully recalculated because we wanted to go to Solvangur Horse Center and take a lesson. Andres worked his magic and we had a wonderful time then off to the Golden Circle ~fabulous and a special treat of ice cream at Efstidalur II ~ Kaffihus/isbud! at the end of this unbelievable day we went on to see the Northern Lights and yes we saw them! Andres was tireless and thankfully so since the rest of our stay in Iceland was cloudy and rainy so we would have missed them.

Andre's was a wonderful tour guide. Our weather wasn't the best. However, he was knowledgeable, funny, and it made a not so good day, better. The drive to the South is long with bad weather. But the waterfalls, black sand beach is beautiful. I would without a thought hire this tour company whenever I could. He makes it very easy to relax, sit back and enjoy the ride. So thank you so much for sharing Iceland with us...

Andres took just the two of us out for two evenings searching for the Northern Lights, and a full day trip along the South Coast, including the LAVA Museum, waterfalls and the black beach. He was a enthusiastic and loquacious host, happy to proffer his views on a broad range of esoteric topics. Andres was extremely generous with his time and attention. Very good communication from start to finish.

What a wonderful time we had on this private trip. Andres was very informative and made us laugh even if our weather wasn't very good. During our trip It was very rainy, icy, and just cloudy. But it didn't matter. We still had great conversations, and what we were able to see made it worth the very long drive.We would definitely recommend using this guide while visiting. He was also a very safe driver.. So, next time we visit, we will choose this tour and hopefully have better weather. Thank you!!!

Andres is simply the best! My mom and I were seeking a personalized tour of Iceland, so we took private tours to the South Coast and Golden Circle. We saw waterfalls, geysers, craters and volcanos, but the tours were so much more than that. Andres went above and beyond to provide knowledge and Icelandic history, a perfect way to learn more about the country in the four days we visited.
Also on our first evening in Iceland, Andres made a point to call and let us know that the Northern Lights were visible if we were up for it. An unforgettable moment! We would highly recommend Mercury Grail tours to any travelers interested in a more customizable experience.

Andre was an incredible guide. He made our trip customized to what we wanted to see, was knowledgeable, friendly, conversational, and flexible with what we intended for our trip. He knew all the good spots and the way to read the weather to make each spot most memorable. He was punctual and communicated pre-trip perfectly for a smooth pick up at the cruise port. 10/10 5 gold stars !

Andres is fantastic. He was personable, he pointed out landmarks and told us the history of many areas. He gave us plenty of time at each stop and accommodated every request. He knew we wanted to see puffins, so he made sure we did. We will absolutely use him again the next time we come to Iceland!

We took a 1 week tour across western and southern Iceland with Andres. Part of that tour included an overnight stay in the south coast and stops by glacier lagoon, diamond beach, black sand beach, Dyrholaey, black waterfall, and foot of one of the glaciers, amongst other beautiful/scenic stops (i.e. Golden Circle, Snæfellsnes)
Easily the best private tour we have done throughout the different countries traveled to. You get to see all the regular known destinations and Andres also goes a step further to stop by some quieter and less common destinations. On the way to glacier lagoon he asked if we wanted to stop by a glacier that was on the way [Svinafellsjokull] which of course we said yes, and it was an amazing sight -- less people too. And then on the way back to Reykjavik, he took us to another glacier [Fjallsarlon] which wasn't originally planned on the itinerary, but he made the effort to stop and show us the beautiful glacier (which was highly appreciated because we got to hear the glacier ice cracking, which was amazing to witness)
Andres is also highly knowledgeable, very friendly and down to earth. If you're ever going to Iceland, even for just a few days, highly recommend Mercury Grail /Andres. You'll have a great experience and won't be disappointed.
