This isn’t a review. I did not make a reservation- in fact, I was on a train from Gallipoli to Rome at the time the guide tried to call me, and I had reserved the train ticket for quite some time. I was interested in the Galleria, but the times never worked, or the available tours were too expensive, so I never made a reservation. The guide and I discussed this as an error over email, as we couldn’t connect over the phone.
I only filled out the fields regarding the experience because they were required before I could submit this explanation.

We arrived at the meeting point early. Staff from another company, who were very helpful pointed out the girl we need to speak to sitting in the shade on here phone fifteen metres away. She was not impressed that we were interrupting her phone call.
The gallery however was fantastic

It’s gorgeous. It was one of my favorite parts of all the Rome sights I saw. Getting these tickets in advance was great because they were sold out for walk up tickets. Highly recommend!

We misunderstood when booking and a host meant, she gave us our tickets, and once in we could not get access to a written guide or audio guide.
We were also not informed that the upstairs which held the paintings was closed due to repairs . They had put a few downstairs but it was still disappointing.

There was nothing memorable about this tour except that the Tour Operator, Once Upon A Time, only printed to 2 Skip The Line Tickets instead of the 3 tickets that I purchased. I presented the Viator Voucher clearly showing Viator’s confirmation for 3 tickets and the Tour Operator’s confirmation for 3 tickets; however, the Tour Operator would only give me 2 tickets and blamed Viator for their mistake. It was extremely disappointing that I had to sit outside while my wife and son toured the Borghese Gallery because Once Upon A Time had no remedy available for their error. I do not fault Viator because they provided all of the necessary confirmations. I blame the Tour Operator for not verifying the details related to my pre-paid voucher and then offering no solution to the problem except to advise me to request a refund from Viator and sit outside while my family toured the gallery without me. Disappointing to say the least. I’m pleased to say that Viator did provide the refund. Thank you Viator!’

Very disappointed not to have been informed of the partial closure of the gallery. Paid very dearly for what they had on sight. Partial refund requested.

This is the perfect stop for those that need a break from the heat of Rome. However, the second floor was under construction. The available art was thinly distributed, but the experience was amazing nonetheless. All the available art are world known masterpieces. It was a self guided experience, but very easy to navigate. Super informative, every exhibit had its own vibe- from the renaissance to neoclassical, baroque, with roman and greek mythology. The outside of the museum is stunning, with big leafy trees and even its own zoo! Great for families of all ages.

Got to the gallery at the prescribed time for our tour. Tour guide not there, substitute not in clothing(blue and white) that we were supposed to look for. He handed out the tickets without looking at the names. No tickets left for our confirmed party of 3! Told me we showed up at the wrong time even tho tickets had the time that we showed up.

Eventually gave us tickets for another time and told us to go in through the basement. No headsets, no host no direction, just utter chaos! Beautiful gallery, too bad it was spoiled at the beginning.

My second visit to the gallery. The last one was in 2006. The gallery is an absolute gem of Rome. I deduct one point for few reasons:
- The gallery is under major renovation offering much fewer opportunities for taking pictures of the villa
- The second floor of the villa is closed for visitors. Paintings from this floor are moved to the Barberini Palace, which can be visited using the Borghese ticket, but you have to pay extra 5euros.
- "Skip-the-line with Host" is not a quite accurate term. Walk-in tickets seem to be unavailable at the day of the visit, they have to be purchased in advance. A "host" standing outside the building simply checks your name on the phone app and gives paper tickets. This is odd because the same could be done by the box office. With this ticket you have to still stay in a short line to have it scanned upon the entry.

Wow! That sums up our experience. The collection of paintings and sculptures is incredible. And then there the actual rooms which are also a work of art. A must do that doesn’t require a lot of time.
