Join us as we hike to La Chorrera, Colombia´s highest waterfall! We´ll start the day with a traditional Colombian breakfast. Then we´ll set off by a van to La Chorrera, taking a brief stop for pictures at the páramo, a unique Andean ecosystem nearby Bogotá. Next we will reach the park and set off on our trek, taking in the spectacular landscape, breathing the pure air and enjoying the colorful birds found at the top of the trees, finally reaching the 590 meter wall of water. I booked my trip , and received a confirmation text within a couple hours with instructions to meet at the Cranky Croc Hostel in the Candelleria neighborhood in Bogota (about a 20 minute taxi ride from my Hotel) the meeting spot was clean and safe, in a quaint colourful neighborhood. I arrived about 15 minutes early and was met by my guide Ivonne, she spoke excellent English, and took me to a small nearby cafe for a light breakfast and a delicious coffee. Ivonne briefed about what to expect on the trip, she is very knowledgeable about the area, it was approximately 1 hour drive to trail location in a comfortable compact SUV, it was a scenic drive with a great conversation with Ivonne along the way. The hike itself was a beautiful trek beginning in what I would describe as farm country side with views of the surrounding mountains and the waterfalls off in the distance, it was not the most difficult hike I have done, but I am an experienced hiker. The falls themselves were beautiful and lots of great interesting conversations along the way. Expect to have one of the many stray friendly dogs accompanying you along the way - which added to the experience. The hike finished up with a delicious lunch and some Guava juice.

All in all an amazing experience I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Bogotá

Thanks again Ivonne, for being such a great guide, and a great person to hang out with.

I can't say enough good things about Lorena's expert guidance on this unforgettable walk in the mountains. I enjoyed every part of the day. The waterfalls, paramo micro-climate, and dense fauna make this short, easy-to-access hike well worth the time. Lorena's vast knowledge of wildlife, geology, water conservation, and the cultural dimensions of the landscape made for a consistently engaging and peaceful day together.
We had a traditional breakfast in the Candelaria, drove out with a few nature-viewing stops over the mountains east of Bogota, and walked for peaceful hours under la Chorrera and Chiflon. We saw many different birds, and paused for lunch and to converse with the friendly national park employees.
The hike is far less strenuous than Monseratte, but still more difficult than something all flat and on a sidewalk. If you are accustomed to walking in nature, this is an easy, beautiful, and worthwhile walk. If not, it's a great place to start.
Omar is the best driver the mountains have ever known! I felt safe at all times as he plyed our craft through winding roads and buffeting fog. 100% recommend this tour! Please don't forget to tip your guides, for goodness sake.

Went with two others to the waterfalls. This trip was absolutely amazing. Tour guide (Yulie) and driver were wonderful, everyone was on time and food was delicious. The hike wasn’t for the faint of heart. I’m fit and I was huffing and puffing. We worked up a good sweat and a good appetite but the whole experience was by far my favorite of my time in Colombia. Insiders tip, go during the week and you will be one of only a few on the trail.

When I visit a place I always wanted to learn about that place history and about that city. Mr. Diego rightfully met this requirement. He is very knowledgeable about the local history and explained to us in plain and simple English. The high lights of the tour are
1) Learning about Bogota. How it started and where it started and walking around important places of this old city where all the old houses are well preserved.

2) Fruit tasting: He took us to a place where we get an opportunity to taste local fruits which rare to South America. This was covered as part of tour.

3) coffee Tasting: We stopped at one of the coffee shop where we have tasted different varieties of Coffee and the shop guys showed us the proper way of preparing coffee. This is also covered as part of tour.

4) visiting different museums

5) The tour ended up in a restaurant where Diego thought us a local game which was played by local native Colombians. This was really fun ending where Diego sponsored us free Beer and let us play this game for a while.

I highly recommend this tour as it was fun to learn about local culture, meet different people and was playful.

Desayuno or breakfast in Español our tour guide recommended traditional food calentado. She explained cocoa industry growth in Columbia. she offered us chocolate tasting from her sampling chocolate sampling box. Our hike to the waterfalls was spectacular with us practicing our Español with our tour guide and Edgar from Mexico. Our guide kept the hike at our pace and gave us useful information along with the community working in the park.

Really enjoyed this day trip! Our guide, Nick, was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He let us set the pace of the hike and frequently made sure we were comfortable. The hike itself was a great balance between challenging and rewarding, with beautiful views throughout. We had plenty of food (breakfast, snacks and lunch) with various options for each. I felt like I learned a lot and appreciated seeing the rural part of Bogotá. Would definitely recommend! 😊
