Friends recommended this tour and they were spot on, For 100 euros, I got picked up at my hotel and dropped off after. Our van had eight people ( I wish it have severn) as the front seating was a little tight. All Americans (like me) and a great couple from Australia. We got along great. Our guide Jose had only been on the job three months and he was enjoyable (but a little two talkative).

Both wineries were beautiful, lunch adequate, and the boat ride a nice way to close out the day. It is 10+ hours but you really get to see Douro Valley, which is stunning and I highly recommend. CM Torus also does bigger busses not sure how we ended uo in a van, but one upside was that it was a smaller party.

Cheers!

Marius

What an amazing day! Igor (guide) was wonderfully engaging and Victor (driver) had neeves of steel. The day was gorgeous, the wines tasty, and the views spectacular.

A fantastic and well- organized day out! Ivo, our guide was friendly, very knowledgeable and funny! He kept us entertained the whole day! We had a 1 hour river cruise about an hour or so's drive from Porto- the scenery was stunning and wet our appetites for the wine and port tasting to come! The wineries were beautifully maintained and had colourful, well- landscaped gardens to admire. The tales from the vineyard staff really conveyed how much hard physical graft is involved in producing port and wine from these beautiful but steep, unyielding terraces. Lovely 3 course lunch served in a informal barn setting with white linen cloths on circular tables. Beautiful! Really recommend.

Flavio was great. Our driver was great too. Pics don't do justice to the beautiful scenery. Take snacks so you don't pass out after your 6th glass of wine at 10:45a.m. and don't have to stand in line at the service centre to buy food. Lunch was great. There was a great mix of other travellers. Altogether very memorable.

Our trip started off wonderfully with the gentleman, Antonio who picked us up. Antonio was delightful, a great conversationalist with great stories of Porto. From there we met Igor, our guide who was absolutely superb. He was informative, humorous and always on cue throughout the day. Our group was a nice mix of nationalities and ages who enhanced the experience. The boat ride showed off the beauty of the Douro Valley (truth be told we wish it was longer) and was relaxing. The visit to Santa Julia was very informative and provided insights on the wine region, harvesting of the grapes and extremely difficult process of receiving a white label vintage port. Followed by a delicious lunch with superb wines in the shade overlooking the valley was lovely. Our last stop at the wine store to sample and learn more about port wines was a great way to finish off the day. Of course the sing-a-long on the transport back to Porto was the exclamation point to a great experience! We would like to restate how much we appreciated our drivers and tour guide.

If you like an 11 hour day (5.5 hours in the bus) with a lot of time waiting for others, this is the trip for you. Show up at 8:15 am where you have to walk from bus to bus asking drivers if they have your name. After 30 min of confusion, we all head to a ready area where all the buses converge. The gas station is the better bet. Wine stop was awesome with two great glasses of non-port wine. The half mile walk from the bus to the winery was lovely. Walking back we had to wait for two elderly folks who were the last to stand in the 15 min bathroom line, and their .5 mile hike was miserable for all. The wine at lunch was plentiful, and the food was good. Fish was like a hush puppy, not fresh. The port wine winery was interesting but we stayed too long waiting for the bathroom lines to clear. We thought we would take a boat back to Porto, but instead we took a loop on the river. It was only 45 min instead of 1 hour as we had to save time. We all walked to a gas station to use the bathroom. Do it as the 2.5 hour trip back to Porto has no stops! Some reviews showed groups of 15…we were on a bus with 50 people. The bus was clean and comfortable. Bring headphones to block out the guy on a work call for 30 minutes! Nice views of the valley.

I was travelling with my sister and elderly parents and we were all super happy with the trip, in general. Our guide Milena, and our driver Thomas, were both excellent.
The scenery was dreamlike the whole trip.
The guide in the first winery (Quinta st. Luiz) was good, but we thought that we should have more types of port to taste (we only had 1 white and 1 red). It was more of a port introduction, then tasting.
The guide in the second tasting was to detailed. Very looong speach, and not easy to understand his english (Quinta Julia). Again, only 1 type of white to taste and 1 type of red wine, which is not a real tasting.
The boat trip was really nice.
The lunch was canteen like; ok but nothing more.
Good value for money, recommended! We had a wonderful day and enjoyed ourselves🌸

Do you enjoy being drunkenly herded around the countryside as part of a pack of tourist cattle? If so, this is the tour for you! If not, I recommend booking with a company that is not CM Tours. Find a smaller company with a guaranteed smaller group size. All of the information and photos they provide suggest this tour is done as part of a small group. This is not the case. Instead we were herded onto a full size tourist bus with 50 or so other people (this was 1 of 4 huge buses the company had leaving from the same place at the same time, which was extremely chaotic and confusing). The bus was so big it could not actually make it up the narrow winding driveways of the wineries.

Very disappointing overall. Everything went fine and the tour guide was very nice. It was just kind of depressing and not what I thought I signed up for.

We enjoyed the guides commentary en route, and the bus ride was comfy. First vineyard lunch was average but tasty Portuguese food. Then on to 2nd vineyard for port wine experience and river trip. The boat trip was a little disappointing, just going up and down without commentary but calm and nice scenery. Nice to.learn about Port wine and see the countryside.
