We booked this private tour in Rio and so glad we did. Our guide Paulo was fantastic. He got us to places prior to crowds. Hotel pickup was on time and communication prior was great We never waited in long lines and he was so informative and so professional. This was by far the highlight of our trip.

Most visitors assume that Rio is mainly Copacabana, the Favelas, Sugar Loaf and Corcovado. Therefore we allocated 2 full days in Rio on our S American sojourn. To my surprise, as I delved deeper I realised there was a lot more to explore. We knew we needed to have a private guide to be able to cover all our areas of interest in history, architecture and culture. I was recommended Gus Guia to guide us through the two days we had. He has a great way of introducing the many facets of Rio. Starting with the country’s history at the onset, to guiding us through the beautiful examples of classical, modern and futuristic architecture in the city including the street mural art. Being a vegetarian group, he even managed to ensure that we could sample Brazilian food through the vegetarian version of ‘moqueca’ and took us to his secret ‘find’ of freshly baked cheese bread, with its taste still lingering in our mouths. In most visitors minds, Rio is synonymous with the Carnival. However, who knew of the history of Samba, the Samba clubs and an entire industry that it supports.
Gus is very proficient in English which greatly increased our understanding and enjoyment of our trip. He knows all the photographic view points and doubles up as a good photographer too. He even indulged our desire to visit an old Brazilian perfumier and knew of the branch that had added a new endeavour of perfume flavoured ice creams.
Gus has a vast repository of knowledge and expertise. He deftly planned and made efficient use of the time we had at our disposal to cover the numerous places on our itinerary and interests.
Our first visit to Rio has been made most memorable! There is no doubt Gus has had a great hand in it. We have already ‘booked’ Gus for our next Rio visit!

Gus was the best ! He communicated with what’s app about out pick up at the hotel. He was right on time. We felt safe with him and his driving. On this private tour, he catered to our needs and traffic. We spoke very good English and gave us much information about the sites & Rio. He escorted us through the fast track lanes and how to avoid many stairways. He showed us the best places to be for the views and where to get the best photos. He even took photos of us. You can tell that he loves his job and is a pleasure to be around. It was money well spent for this private tour. After the tour , we were very pleased with our decision to have book this private tour. We had a full day exploring all of the major sites in Rio.

Gus was a very excellent tour guide in Rio de Janeiro and was by far the best we had in Brazil. He is highly experienced and extremely customer service oriented. We highly recommend him!

Gus was the best! He was prompt in picking us up at our hotel and communicating through WhatsApp. He customized our tour according to our needs the traffic and the fog rolling in . We began with Christ the Redeemer. He even acted as our personal photographer. He knew all of the short cuts through the long lines and how to avoid stairs. He drove the car in a safe manner and we felt safe with him. We made several stops, had lunch and ended at Sugarloaf. It was foggy when we got there , but we were lucky when the clouds moved out of the way. I think that somehow Gus willed the fog to lift. He pointed out the best places to stand for the views and to get the best photos. He was knowledgeable about Rio and its history.
Choose this tour with Gus and you won’t be disappointed.

Gus was extremely knowledgeable about Rio; its present and its past. He was personable and friendly, relaxed and engaged. He took us to some places that we would never have explored on our own and his stories enhanced our visits to the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf. Thank you.
