While we are all familiar with typical Italian dishes such as pizza and gelato, only a few non-Italians have ever heard of “suppli”, “saltimbocca alla Romana” or “maritozzo”. Besides coffee, pasta, and gelato, you will get to taste the real Italian and Roman specialties, developed throughout history under different circumstances, but still living and developing today.

Join us on this very small-group tour and discover bits and pieces of culinary history that make Italian cuisine what it is today.

Meet the local foodie districts:
- Testaccio for the morning departures;
- Campo de' Fiori and Trastevere for the afternoon departures.
- A very small group of a maximum of eight people guaranteed;
- More than 15 traditional food tastings (savory and sweet);
- Three types of wines,
- Learn the secrets and legends of Roman cuisine,
- Learn about architectural and artistic surroundings that make Rome an open-air museum.

Learn not only what locals eat and drink but also how they do it!

Our tour guide was a wonderful guy who knew a lot of history about the buildings and the area. He had a great sense of humor and was fun to get to know. He was very open to questions. That was wonderful! We did, however, want more information on the food and culture of Italy itself: where it had originated, how it had become popular, special things they did to make it or how it's commonly made. There was a little of that, but not a lot. There was a good variety of food and we were super stuffed by the end! I felt like we hardly put a dent in the pasta at the end of the night because we were so full!

We had two larger disappointments, however.

First: The desserts were *phenomenal* and we loved them! Trying the cheese and truffle and other unique foods was interesting. However, while the pizza and pasta were OK, they weren't *really good.* They were like cheap pizza and pasta in the US, in my opinion. I was expecting to be really wowed by the flavors, but they were bland. We really wondered if, instead of taking us to the *best* places, he was taking us to cheap places to save money, or to his friend's places that they tip him for.

Second, I'd specifically requested that we have specialty drinks that weren't alcoholic or coffee. I didn't want to just have soda shoved at us, either, when the tour usually includes some kind of specialty wine. Kind of a hard request, I know, but we'd been assured that our guide would plan around exactly what we wanted to do. We had booked a private tour for that reason, but it seemed that our guide hadn't planned for that at all. So we got soda. It was interesting to try, but kind of a cop out.

The BEST thing about the tour was our guide Anna Marie! She is so funny, so much fun, and just loves doing the tours. The other things were ALL of the different places we went at night which weren't just restaurants, but a taste of ALL kinds of different foods. We were stuff when we got done and I would ABSOLUTELY go again!

Me & my husband were taken around Rome for several hours on a food tour by the lovely Sarah. We experienced the most amazing food and were able to be fully immersed in all types of Roman food. It was extravagant, decadent & delicious. Sarah took us to places which delivered high quality food. I fully recommend this tour.

We booked a small group tour that turned out to be a private tour because it was just the two of us and our lovely guide Luca. The tour was of the Trastevere district with In Rome Cooking. The walking food tour visited several very good restaurants and an exceptional family owned pork deli shop and finished off with gelato. We had plenty to eat and drink and whilst not everything was what we we normally eat it was all very good quality. We definitely enjoyed our evening and would recommend asking for Luca to show you around. 10 out of 10.

More food than we could eat. Our guide, Gulio, was fantastic. He was informative and just down to earth and enjoyable to talk too. We sampled everything from awesome prosciutto, varieties of sausage, cheeses and wine from a meat shop. Two types of maritozzi (sweet bread with cream), cannoli, pizza (multiple varieties to pick from) and finally a sit down dinner meal (Italian style- pasta/meat). As a matter of fact, we ate so much previously that we could not start the second course of our dinner. Lastly, of course, a stop for gelato (always have room for that). While walking from shop to shop, our guide talked about the neighborhoods and landmarks and places to go. Thanks for this tour, we had a group of 6 with 4 older teenage boys that still talk about the food on this tour.

This food tour was absolutely awesome! Our guide was amazing and we ended up leaving with leftovers for later! We were taken all around the neighborhood and even one of the sights that we wanted to see but had yet to find (the Egyptian pyramid of Rome). The amount of food and wine that we were treated to was definitely well worth the price. Bring your friends and empty bellies!!

Our tour guide was absolutely excellent! He was very knowledgeable about all the food we tasted and it’s history, even seasonal items, and medlar growing on trees outside the buildings. He was very accommodating of mobility issues, and re-ordered the tour so that we would be able to try everything even though we were too exhausted to finish the whole tour. He was extremely nice and let us go at our own pace! I certainly recommend this tour as all the food we tried was absolutely excellent, none of the typical tourist foods that are in the main streets but lots of delicacies we wouldn’t have found ourselves.

We did discover some nice places to eat, however, the tour guide was very hard to understand. Her third language was English (She was from Spain, living in Italy) and walking around it was so difficult to understand. Because of this, we barely understood where we were and the history which was the whole point. They said we would get an email with all the names and addresses of where we ate, and that never happened. Cute but not worth the amount of money you pay. You can tell the integrity of this tour by how they respond to customer reviews- doesn't that say it all?

We imagined this tour as an opportunity to relax, enjoy a variety of food and learn. Instead we were lead down dirty side streets with trash bins. We were given little bits of food and in most places there was no place to sit. Wine was a rarity. One of the places we were supposed to visit was even closed!!! We paid $262 for two people and this was FAR from worth it. We had much better food experiences in Rome for 1/5th of the cost. Worst, we feel we lost an entire evening of our vacation with this tour.

The deli at Campo De Fiora was good. Other foods and stops small amounts and places I would not have chosen to eat, mediocre quality. Read some reviews, come hungry. Not so on my tour. Guide was nice and tried hard to make up for company inconsistencies of quality and was overpriced worth half of cost. You may want to avoid and save the $ and splurge on a nice restaurant instead.
