Awesome experience!! The farmer who did the demonstration and the sheep shearing was very nice, funny, and informative. Both the sheepdog demonstration and the shearing demonstration were excellent. And we also got to hold baby lambs and feed them. It was a totally wonderful experience and well worth doing!! Would highly recommend it!!

This was absolutely the best part of my Ireland vacation.I went with my husband and it was like entering heaven. The farm is set atop a fjord. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and I have been all around the world. The brothers who run the farm are amazing and ready to answer any questions.
They are fourth generation sheep farmers and the reverence they have for their work and quite frankly their gift is palpable. Although other tourists were present it did not feel like a tourist trap. The location and work did not lend itself to hokey tourist tricks. That is saying a lot since you are able to hold and fees the lambs, plus watch one brother demonstrate how his dog listens to his commands to here the sheep.
Please ask them about how they train these amazing dogs, how they learned and were born into this profession, the breeding of the dogs, the miles they walk everyday and anything else you can think of.
I would visit Ireland again just to visit this farm. Connemara is an amazing, dramatic part of Ireland. If you have a car there is no reason to go on a tourist bus, we drove ourselves there. This is an experience for young and old alike, don't miss it.
Oh and we arrived on the first day of shearing, late May. You get to be present for the skill it takes to sheer a sheep and learn all about the wool.

I’d place this activity up in the “must do” category if you have time. The dogs are more impressive than you can even imagine. Their listening skills and overall training are worth a watch for anyone with a dog. Tom and his brother were incredibly friendly and welcoming. My wife also loved holding a baby lamb.

PJ and his dog Rex were amazing. He had trained the dog so well and showed us how skilful both he and the dog were. The scenery is stunning and it was a very memorable experience.

It is really nice and impressive (shepard dog), we really enjoyed it. Because it was not the time to trim the sheep (month of May), the visit was 50 minutes to an hour maximum and not an hour and a half. We really loved it anyway!

The sheep herding demo was amazing to see in person. We were astonished that the sheep herding dog could hear his owner’s commands from more than 100-150 yards away. The demo was very informative and the two guides were very kind and answered everyone’s questions. We also enjoyed bottle feeding the baby lambs.
