This trip is basically mis-selling for the following reasons:
1. It is not a private party activity as advertised but a mixed with other groups - see photos
2. Even though booked for sunrise (4.30am) was picked up at 7am after sunrise and started balloon journey at 7.45am - see photos for inflating of balloon and time stamp
3. Journey did not last 50 minutes but more like 30 minutes.
Therefore, if you are okay with the above then it wasn’t actually that bad and captain was very friendly and good.
I made these points to Viator and the operating company, both did not care so would say bad customer service hence the main reason for 2 stars.

This tour was my 1st hot air balloon ride & what a great choice. Overall very safe & professional, they take it serious. Was an amazing view and relaxing with a smooth very easy landing! Worth the time & money

This is one activity you should no skip if visiting Luxor. It has terrific view, our operator(Dr. Mo tours) made it a painless experience, from pick to delivery back to hotel was well organized. The flight was amazing and I think we got the best views of Hatshepsut Temple and surrounding valleys. The landing was way better than a plane, thanks to Omar for that.

I wasn’t able to take the balloon ride due to bad weather. The Egyptian government cancels for safety reason when the weather isn’t good. Although I wasn’t able to have the adventure I was able to get fully refunded within a reasonable time with little fuss. Dr Mo was very professional and kindly refunded me. I took a previous tour earlier in the week with his group and highly recommend!!

This company just books and sends your paid reservation to another company who actually manages the balloon ride. We reserved and paid for a sunrise balloon ride. And we arranged to get up very early to do so. Unfortunately they changed the time and had another company pick us up and waste 30 minutes picking up another group and they put us on a "second" balloon ride after the first which happened after the sunrise. The whole point was the earlier flight to see the sunrise and to see the other balloons with the fire/light. In a follow-up to the company they blamed the Egypt government saying that we could not go earlier. It was a total lie as there were 40 other balloons in the sky for the sunrise. They just chose to ignore that we purchased the sunrise and put us on another ride. It was very disappointing as you only get to Luxor once in a lifetime and we specifically planned this family experience around the sunrise. Also, it was awkward as the company that provided the actual pickup and ride did a good job but it was not what we purchased so we had to then tip them for their work, despite the main company Dr Mo Tours LYING TO US and moving us from the Sunrise ride. Very disappointing.

It was an extraordinary experience. The whole thing bordered on chaos but got there, make sure that you are reasonably mobile as getting in and out of the basket is difficult. Fortunately even with my arthritic knees I made it with the help of some Egyptian guys. In the air it is beautiful, great views of Luxor and the mountain areas. The crew that took guided us through the chaos they were really good.

Azaba was the best ! Showed us hidden spots that other people normally wouldn’t see and fed us really good food !!!! The best your guide ever ! Hire him and only him !!!

This experience was amazing. Everything was super organized. The van picked us up on time and took us to the boat, which was already setup with some coffee and a little cake if you are hungry. Then we went to the field were the balloons take off. This is an amazing experience which can be very expensive in other countries. We went in December so I would recommend to take a winter jacket with you because it gets cold. They gave us the option to pay $20 extra for pictures and video, and you have a person taking several pictures of you before the ride, getting in the balloon, taking off and then after the ride when you are landing, in my opinion this is a good deal not like in other places where they want to charge the same for one picture. The balloon captain was the best, very easy take off and landing. We did this experience a day after we planned it because of the weather and we weren’t sure how to go back to the hotel because our tour in Luxor was the day before, however they made arrangements on the spot and one of the guides gave us a ride back to the hotel. I understand how hard these people work to make memorable experiences for everyone so for me tipping them was not a problem. They deserve it. I think this balloon ride is a must if you visit Luxor.
